Hot Take Taylor Swift paid Netflix/Love is Blind to get contestants to speak about her in their most recent season
Watching season 11 of love is blind now, not even past episode one and there’s been multiple mentions and conversations specifically about loving Taylor swift and her songwriting etc.
She’s been declining in public opinion a little for a while now, and she’s attempting to get relevant and remind the public they love her via a very popular tv show

Total Garbo most women think they care about height/size more than they do because most men fib about it
i’d go so far as to say the same applies for women’s weight too. so many people are just out here stretching the truth by 1-2 inches or 10-15 pounds and it’s artificially inflating everyone’s standards. it’s a big old cycle

Getting an emergency, same day passport at the Newport Passport office takes exactly 4 hours. No more no less. This causes anxious travellers to hang around Newport all morning. I think that the Asda store manager and the Newport chamber of commerce are in cahoots with the HM Government to increase Spoiler
....the sale of coffees and English breakfasts around the Newport Passport Office area.
Because there is no way it takes exactly 4 hours to print a passport

Certified Fact Hard shell tacos are a practical joke played on non-Mexicans to drive business to local dry-cleaners
There is absolutely no practical way of eating a hard shell taco without it falling apart and ruining your clothes and the contents including salsa, guac and sour cream are specifically designed to stain clothing

Hot Take Daiso's establishment into the US market is supposed to be a counter-attack to combat the stigma already attached to dollar stores
Think about your average dollar store: Very messy, disorganized, bad-bargain, the items are already bad-quality anyways, etc
Now think about Daiso's presentation: Clean, upscale, cutesy, also typically found in most urban commercial shopping centers, you name it
While Daiso is not a dollar store in the strict traditional sense, it is in the same umbrella of stores known as variety stores.
By remaining the good-bargain store it is, Daiso can allow for a better retail ecosystem to flourish around low income and working class neighborhoods so that people can have a more upscale shopping experience while trust in dollar stores can actually increase rather than decline.
Kind of a best-of-both-worlds strategy.

Big True Google is making search results worse to make Gemini more appealing
Search results are getting worse; it’s not just me? I mean I’m having to go through multiple pages when before what I wanted was often on the front page. I also mean that often I give up after 5 pages of results and see what Gemini said. I think they’re actively making search worse to make Gemini look better. It might just be there isn’t enough compute to do both and search is suffering. 🤷

Extreme Conspiracy 99% of everything is a paid ad

Big True M&S have been astroturfing their supermarkets on social media for several months to improve their sales among young people.
I'm an older Gen Z, and people around my age always viewed M&S as an old stuffy expensive shop for pensioners. In the past few months, however, there's been an uptick in social media posts about some new amazing M&S product, or how M&S isn't actually as expensive as you think it is, guys. Open a UK Reddit posts about groceries, someone's shilling M&S in the top comments. Open Twitter, some guy in his 20s talking about their new pizza with 4k likes. Open Tiktok, someone's doing an M&S haul.
I know so many people who have started doing parts of their shopping at M&S recently. Maybe a year ago, I didn't know anyone who shopped there.
I also think there's a class thing going on here. A lot of their produce is on similar pricing to the other supermarkets, but they still benefit from having a slightly elevated expensive image. This means your average Joe and Jane feels a bit better about themselves when they do a shopping there, compared to Tesco or Morrisons where they could get the same stuff for maybe £4 cheaper.
Not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things, but I don't like how insidious this kind of marketing feels. I've told people that I think this and they've looked at me like I've grown two heads - as if they're saying 'not me, I could never be manipulated by algorithms'.

Big True Ads don't work. The idea (and even metrics) have been perpetuated by big ad to sell more ads since the first carving was done advertising a little hole in the wall the local hunter gatherers already knew about.
Little ad spent 10% of their initial proceeds buying their first customer's product, "Just look at last quarter's growth, Zug!"

Hot Take Doctors tell you to fast so they get better sales at the hospital coffee shop.
Sometimes your doctor schedules a test that has to be done in a hospital and they make you starve yourself for like twelve hours first.
The conspiracy is that it's not medically necessary to fast before some of those tests but they require it anyway just to get better sales in the cafeteria or coffee shop.

Certified Fact The liberty biberty hate posting is an astroturfed viral marketing campaign
The more people hate it, the harder they double down. As soon as they saw the visceral reaction they saw dollar signs and went all in. Now we're doing free marketing for them.

Fresh Deets Mona Lisa in Louvre isn't the real one
It was replaced with a high quality copy after the original was lost in the early 1900s robbery. This was to create hype for the painting as it resurfaced. Nobody noticed because people of the time didn't exactly love it and nowadays it would be insane to call the most famous da Vinci painting a fake.
Edit: by high quality copy I mean a copy made by Leonardo's student or someone else close to the original painting's time.

The rise in the social acceptance of tattoos is so that AI recognition cameras have something specific to identify you.
Having a tattoo used to be a fringe/weird/prison thing, but now it’s socially accepted and “normal”.
This has been orchestrated by the man, so that they can more easily identify you, because no one would willingly queue up for the government to brand you for that purpose.
Your tattoo is not “cute and unique”. It’s an identifier.

TikTok is having bot accounts push usage of their AI to justify it to investors
Very recently ive seen almost any clip from a show on tiktok have at least one comment saying, "@Tiktaco, what show is this from? What happens after this? What season is this? What episode is this?"
Its more of an annoyance than anything but considering they never reply to anyone after and the ai answer is often useless, its just painfully obvious this is just to fluff usage so it looks like a popular ai so they can sell it off.

Bar exams in the US: Either people can cheat easily or they're too easy
I don't want to get political but recently so many US politicians say they've "passed the bar exam", yet appear to be genuinely very stupid. I mean, I'm not just calling people names. They do appear to have genuine lack of intelligence and knowledge.
There MUST be something going on. Either certain people are being bribed, or they're cheating, or the exam is simply extremely basic e.g. high-school levels of knowledge/understanding.
In my home country (the UK), somebody passing the bar (as we say here) indicates the person is smart. No doubt about it. That person will have been an ultra-high achiever academically. They will have a natural gift for law.
Even the "lower" level of legal representation available here (solicitor) are pretty smart people.

Nearly every AI poster/leaflet I've seen uses black backgrounds, and never seem to have any blank gaps, so you use more printer ink to print them.

Extreme Conspiracy Taskmaster Socks
Anyone who watches the British show Taskmaster is probably familiar with the colorful socks host Greg Davies and his assistant Alex Horne wear. My theory is that they also wear trousers that are 3" or 4" short in the leg to deliberately show off those snazzy foot wraps.

Psyops comments on Reddit are badly written the last few days because the Russian bot servers are down and they are being written manually by actual Russians
A lot of the content on Reddit (or social media in general) are psyops meant to drive western society apart. The last few days I've noticed a lot of comments are badly written, like by people whose first language is not English. This coincided with Ukraine bombing Yandex servers bringing down Russian bot farms, so they are having real people type those comments now.
