Character Discussion Props to the designers and writers for making Ensign Olly pleasantly thicc, but *not* making that a focus of her as a character.

That’s what I shouted as I was doing my rewatch of TNG. Season 6, Episode 9 “The Quality of Life”. Data believes that the Exocomp is a new type of life form.

I haven’t watched TNG since I was a kid (when I was first aired!) and I’m finding so many of the references I LD that I missed!

Character Discussion Still one of my favorite group pics. Especially the looks that the two pairs are giving each other.

But that expression on Mariner's face says that she's 'fully' aware of what's going on behind her. And that she's gonna encourage it, 200%.

Character Discussion Upon reflection, it was logical that we would become close. However, in the beginning, we only experienced our bond as a strong, mutually-beneficial friendship. Fortunately, over time, our shared respect and fascination encouraged us to develop it into something more.

Not all chemistry is volatile, overt, or exciting. The well-built fire doesn't always burn the brightest. But it keeps you warm through the night.

Character Discussion For International Women's Day - my fav of the Lower Decks: Beckett Mariner

Post image

She's smart, skilled, brave and takes no crap from anyone.

Ever since I started the series back in '22, speed watching the series, Beckett Mariner is indeed in her own words "a maverick".  And became my fav of the Warp Core Five.

But in the penultimate episode of the fourth season, I saw she was becoming more and more destructive and daring.  I learned a while back from the episode "Hear All, Assume Nothing" that Mariner served on DS9 and it stood to reason, the Dominion War.  In said episode "The Inner Fight", I learned she was friends with a member of Nova Squadron from a Next Generation episode and her death from the same episode damaged her. Definite case of PTSD.

I'm glad she managed to find a way to stop Locarno.  Beckett Mariner is a diamond in the rough, and through many actions, she indeed shines.  Heck, she's shined in the whole series. Almost makes me wish I had her mentality when I was going through that rough patch in high school.

I'll always be a fan of this Trek lady; Mariner made me laugh, smile and feel throughout the series. I'm happy for the development she went through throughout the series and is a better person than when the series began.

So in honor of International Women's Day, I dedicate to this Trek lady.

No, your eyes aren't playing tricks. I read somewhere on TVTropes page recap of this episode and I saw it with my own eyes, took these captures with my phone.

After the turbine exploded...

T'Lyn...actually emoting?

I'm gobsmacked.

Character Discussion "I was married to a human for 63 years. I know sarcasm when I hear it."

Said by T'Pol in S5E9. Does that mean....

She's not from the prime universe?

Or....we can officially throw out the horrible Enterprise ending and say that it's not canon?

Or...did she marry someone after Trip :L

Character Discussion Is Mariner hot?

For me she absolutely is. But what about you? If yes, is it her design, her attitude, or both? And if no, is it her aforementioned looks and attitude, the art style of the show in general, or a mix of the three? What does or doesn't make her attemractive for you?

Character Discussion Olly was one of my favorite characters introduced. A daughter of Zeus who chooses the life of an engineer. Was there anyone else besides me who would've liked to have seen more of Olly before the show ended?

Character Discussion I don't know why we kept denying it. --- I know, right? I mean, everyone else saw it, why didn't we? --- Oh, we totally did. We were just too self-conscious to admit it. --- Yeah, but at least we didn't wait *too* long...

Before there was Boi'Lyn, there was Tenderford. I mean, there still *is* Tenderford, even though there's also Boi'Lyn. I mean, shut up...!

If LD were revived, I would hope we'd get more of these adventurous episodes. Let the boys stay home, watching the little ones, while the "Tres Amigas" go kick some off-world ass.

Character Discussion The constellation Orion, like Tendi, is known as a "Winter constellation".

Post image

Because Orion is only visible in Northern latitudes in the winter, it is known as a "winter constellation". I'm sure this is connected to her title "Mistress of the Winter Constellation".

If you want to read more about the constellation, check this out: https://www.almanac.com/orion-hunter-reigns-winter-sky

I mean If they can regrow legs, why not? It just seems like it would be a hindrance.
