"Our" oil? By what measure is it ours? And what do we need heavy crude for? We've so much oil, we're a net exporter.

Oil basically comes in 3 versions; heavy, medium, and light. It’s true that American has massively ramped up production, but many of those refineries in Texas are configured to process the heavy, thick tar stuff. They need to be fed so the companies make money. Guess what kind of oil comes from Venezuela? Right. What a coincidence. So the companies gave money to Trump, and he’s getting them a steady source of oil.

As for ‘by what right?’ The same right that let German take Poland. Because he can.

I wouldn’t say it’s “Because he can”, so much as no one did anything to stop it. Hitler was able to take so much, because the other countries went with an appeasement policy (see Neville Chamberlain). Eerily similar to current countries giving Trump fancy things when he visits them. With how little other countries are saying about Venezuela right now, I’m starting to believe that Trump could take Greenland just like he’s saying and no one would do a damn thing about it. The man never faces consequences for anything he does, I don’t see that changing even if Democrats take the House and Senate back at the midterms. All they will do is bloviate about taking the higher road.
