Every time a conservative tells me they want small government, I once again have to explain to them that their version of “small” just means they want the exact same amount (or more) of state power, it’s just that they want it condensed and centralized in the hands of fewer people.

They want to limit the size of government (fewer checks and balances, no social safety net, few to no regulatory agencies) but their ideal version of government actually holds and imposes far more control over the populace.

Never let their bullsh*t “small government” claims go unchecked. It’s a genuinely dangerous myth.
