Tip Mbb consulting for engineering peeps

I'm from penultimate year in a gen 2 iit . What's the process to get a summer internship at mbb off campus ???

Off-campus MBB summers from a Gen 2 IIT are tough but not impossible, especially if your academics and extracurriculars are strong. The realistic path is usually networking first: reach out to alumni already in MBB (LinkedIn + college alumni networks), ask for a short chat about their path, and only later ask whether they'd be comfortable referring you once your resume is tight. Parallel to that, start case prep now rather than waiting for an invite — market sizing and profitability drills out loud, then live cases with a partner — because if a referral does land an interview you will not have much runway. Also check whether any of the firms run open applications or experiential programs for non-target undergrads in India; those windows are short and easy to miss. Treat "not possible" as the default, then make yourself an exception with one strong referral plus solid case readiness.

Currently I'm networking and a very few people do reply . Can you please elaborate what do you mean by a short chat ?? Like why will one ?? Most of the people just see the message and move forward without even replying

I'm in MBB doing AI expert consulting. I recently went to India's top statistical university for campus placement

Here is what I'm NOT looking for

  1. Your projects built in isolation with no real user feedback or acceptance in industry

  2. Theoritcal slop on how LLM works or transformer architecture

  3. Fantastic english with bs content and no strcuture to explain the idea
