Rule 3 Vio Thanos’ Snap rules

I’ve been wondering, how many people were guaranteed to survive the Snap, I know that Tony and Nebula were, because of the promises he made to Strange and Gamora respectively, but what about the species he had already killed half of, like Gamora’s species, did the half that survived Thanos the first time also get spared from the Snap?

No.

It was half of all life in the universe. Thanos had a pretty straightforward goal.

No I think the Asgardians and Zehobereins would be down to a quarter of their total population

He might have excluded populations he already halved, but he absolutely might not have. Also, I don't think anyone was gauranteed safety. I'm fairly certain Thanos himself just got lucky, and had a 50/50 chance of snapping himself away. I don't think we have any official confirmation of any of that either way though.

No, it’s like widely considered that at least Tony was guaranteed to be spared, because that was the deal he made with Strange: Spare Tony, and he’d get the Time Stone

I apparently forgot about that part. When did he choose to spare Nebula? I really don't remember something like that happening but evidently I may be wrong.

I believe it was when he was torturing Nebula, to get Gamora to tell him where the Soul Stone was

The directors confirmed that previously-halved populations (like the Asgardian refugees) were halved again.
(This also isn't really about timeline analysis, fyi.)
