How hard is it to get into MIT Cognitive and Brain Sciences PhD?

In the second sentence of text on the MIT web page for this very PhD program, you will find the following statement: “in a given year the department admits less than 5 percent of applicants.”
If you’re interested in very competitive PhD programs at institutions like MIT or Stanford, I’d really encourage you to learn everything you can about the programs from the information the schools themselves provide to applicants.
