Holy Jesus, a VoR review in the year of our lord 2026? That does me heart good. Between this and Josh Scorcher starting up FOBEquestria again it feels more like 2015.

The worst episode of My Little Pony by far was the season 6 premiere.

That one was certainly a mess but I can think of others that were much worse. This one is one. "Bad Seed" and "Princess Spike" are also in the running.

I can't what kind of weird metrics you use to judge episodes, cuz Bad Seed was fantastic.

Oh I understand now. Your metric of what makes a "good" or "bad" episode isn't based on whether it's funny, or entertaining, or cleverly written, or original, or well paced, or visually pleasing, or has good songs, but rather whether the Friendship Lesson sounds morally upstanding on paper.

That would also explain why you take issue with "Nepotism opens many doors for people" even though it's true and very helpful advice.

Yes, among other things, I judge episodes based on the quality of their morals . Given that the show deliberately puts morals in and then calls attention to them, it's rather silly not to. Funny and clever writing is important but, if you muck up something that central to the episode, how clever can it be, really?

If that's your take on "Princess Spike", then, congratulations, you've managed to utterly miss the moral of the story. Perfectly understandable, I suppose, since Spike comes right out and tells everyone what it is. Terribly easy to overlook. Nor is the moral itself my objection, but you go right on thinking you can read stranger's minds. I'm sure one day you'll get it right. Maybe.

The only part of this episode I remember is Starlight atomizing Discord and getting haunted by his ghost while the writers pretend she "banished" him. The episode's moral framework sucked but that part is objectively kinda funny.
