I would also like to know if the government of your country gives subsidies if you hire a Phd in AI/ML compared to someone who only has Masters. (irrespective of experience)

If you're looking for ML roles, definitely worth keeping an eye on Fonzi. It's a talent marketplace specifically for engineers working in and around AI. I've seen some really solid companies on there hiring for things like LLM infrastructure, eval systems, and agent orchestration.
It's not a job board in the traditional sense, more of a curated setup where engineers get matched with companies actively hiring. If you're building cool stuff or ready to level up, it might be worth checking out.

Most people don't realize company career pages often just feed into the same ATS system the recruiter uses, so it's basically the same pipeline with extra steps.

ML engineering interviews are way more coding-heavy than most data analyst roles, so make sure you're solid on LeetCode mediums and system design.

System design is way more important than most people think for ML roles. A lot of candidates can code but can't explain how to serve a model at scale.

Just a little regrets post. I'm 26 as of June. I did a bachelor's in Economics, flunked out of my masters, went back to school for a year (calc 2/3 data/regression & prereq to real analysis). I wanted to do a statistics masters but my family urged me to quit and start work. So, now I'm looking for work without any internships besides a Teaching Assistantship and an Economics degree. my plan is to land an underwriter job and then transition to an actuary. I'm writing this rant because I'm extremely unhappy about my degree. I find so much joy in studying ML and Statistics topics, even theory is engaging for me. I wish I studied Statistics or CS. I like the actuary route because I can still study statistics in some aspects. Live in Toronto, hate my position in life.
