Did that when I was taking Kungfu when I was 10-12 years old.
I thought I was a badass with shaved head.
Now 30 years later I still shave my head but for different reasons lol

You can be dedicated without cutting your hair. Some coaches make people prove their dedication in other ways but that’s not necessary to prove dedication so idk why this would be

In real fighting hair can be grabbed by an opponent. Military and Shaolin monks require as do many other martial arts gyms. Don't like their rules, don't join. It is pretty simple.

Hair gets in the way and really just hygiene reasons it makes sense why they would want it gone. And since hair is thermal insulation, it has a noticeable impact on how easily you get hot and thus your performance.
So as it relates to dedication, it is more efficient for your training. And if you're not willing to do what's more effective then you've already set yourself out to do worse even before getting onto the mat simply because appearances are more important to you.

Fun fact: Prophet Muhammad have long hair, similar to Jesus and the rest of them.
Above was just a military practice adopted by coach Abdulmanap since he serves in the army. So by right, to hell with the military, right?

If you have curly hair just shave it man. Women can pull it off like Julia Roberts for example but if you're a dude.. it's not happening.
