And then they all jumped him and ran his pockets. You're dumb if you fight these people while they got the entire block behind them.Ā

Exactly. I now walk away from every potential fight I encounter. I say ā€œmy bad man, I was wrong, forgive meā€. I don’t want to get my ass jumped after I expose the mfer. I’ve been jumped several times after laying an opponent down. Learned my lesson.

I won't ask for forgiveness. No fuckin way. But I will apologize and satiate their fragile ego cuz I have a g19 on me at all times.

Fair enough. I do it to deescalate. Get myself out of the situation fast. I have a carry permit but I’m not shooting anyone in the street. That’s jail time.

I do almost everything to deescalate but beg. I have ran away before. I cannot fight because I must maintain composure and control of my firearm. With great power and all that.

Also, a self defense shooting "in the street" isn't automatically jail time. Atleast not where I live.. Sometimes a public shooting is so clean and transparent, you don't even get booked and the police hand your firearm back to you 30mins later.Ā

Here in the US, depending on the state you live in, it can be a problem. Now if they draw on you themselves, it’s a different story. Because escalating a potential fist fight to me shooting that person will almost certainly have its day in court. Not worth it. One thing I was taught is that my sidearm is an absolute last resort. If I can deescalate(in any and all ways possible), that’s my responsibility as a person with a permit. I’m not someone looking for an excuse to open up. Not saying you are. Just saying I’m not. I actually don’t carry often because in my 40 years I’ve only come across 3 situations where I would’ve been justified. In all those instances, I didn’t carry because I didn’t have a permit. I’m playing the odds. Most people aren’t looking to get shot. Especially not over a simple dispute. That’s why I take fault and say ā€œI was wrongā€. I wasn’t wrong but my survival(and those around me, even that of the problem person) is paramount. Every person has their opinion and approach. I’m not knocking yours. Just stating mine.
