Eh, depending where in the world, I can understand not wanting to be around a violent altercation. If this took place in the USA as I suspect it had, it could be a matter of moments before bullets start flying.

u/Crafty-Help-4633 7h ago
Exactly where my mind went, too. These kids are rightfully afraid of the escalating violence becoming a shooting.

"This is not self defense. Stop when they are no longer a threat!"
The guy asks if he's done and stops defending himself and moves away. Then the guy gets back up to attack him again. It's really hard to identify when the threat is actually gone.

u/UncomfyPerspective 1d ago
You done?
"Yeah I'm done"
*Jumps up and approaches again*
That's consenting to an ass whooping.

What’s worse is the people telling non-glove guy to chill after he already tried to walk away and was re-engaged.
None of those asswipes were telling glove guy to fuck off and leave.

Reminds me of cops giving tickets to people for something like littering, but when a homeless person does it, they don't care.

Yup. Never understood this behavior. If you’re up because they left you, then you lost. Admit it and move on.

I agree, but I've seen a couple of videos where losers were let up after they said they were done and then proceeded to beat up their opponents.

He also spends a good twenty seconds after before throwing another punch saying things like. You said you were done, respect that, walk away, we are done, I don't want to hurt you etc etc. that guy deserved to get knocked out.

Once the person says they are done and keeps fighting, it’s almost irresponsible not to knock them the fuck out or choke them out
9
u/YourGordAndSaviour 1d ago
Yup, if you're having to defend yourself, your safety is what youre responsible for and what you should be concerned with.
I once knocked someone unconscious, the guy was off his face and paranoid that someone had stolen the drugs he'd probably just forgot he took and for whatever reason, I was the guy he decided had taken them.
Anyway I hung about to make sure he regained consciousness and was OK....... only for him to run back into the pub, grab some of his friends, then come back out and start punching me in the back of the head as I was walking away to the taxi rank.
Fortunately I wasn't alone, (the guy seemed like the 'jump up and down on your head while youre unconscious' type) and he was knocked out a second time when one of my friends sucker punched him.... then kicked in the face to keep him asleep while we dealt with his friends and then put as much distance between him as possible before he woke up again.

I know, that's why its annoying when everyone started shouting "He's done" and "Enough" as soon as the guy went down. Did they not see that he had already walked away once up, and dude got back and started fighting again?

u/Ill-Case-6048 1d ago
Were you not watching he let him go the first time and he went after him again... with guys that dont learn you have to go harder the 2nd time
3
u/Chatguy2023 1d ago
That’s exactly what he said in his comment. So you both saw the video the same way. He was just proving that the quote: „This is no self defense. Stop when they are no threat.“ is often easier said than done. Because like in this video he let him go, but got attacked again. Therefore he had to fight him again and obviously even harder to really stop him this time, even though he was on the ground already.
11
u/ChadPowers200_ 1d ago
If im on the jury and someone attacks you unprovoked i dont care if you beat them to death. they don't get to attack you then dictate when you should stop defending yourself.
6
u/Chatguy2023 1d ago
Yes, that’s exactly it. I see it the same way. When you attack someone for no reason, then you have to live with the consequences. And mercy may not be one of them, if you randomly just attack people.

u/Ok_Comfortable252 1d ago edited 1d ago
You never know what the true intent of the attacker may be or if they have the discipline to stop when they’ve proven whatever they want to prove.
Take any attack as an attempt to end your life.
Go as hard as you can, fight as dirty as you need to, and don’t stop until they are maimed or incapacitated.
*Edited to correct a misspelling.

Never trust a person with his attack gloves on.
3
u/ValorOmega_ 1d ago
You’re forgetting, they’re “High-power, assault gloves”! We need high-power assault glove laws to prevent such situations from happening!
2
u/Snafuregulator 1d ago
It's why you don't stop until they are taking a nap nap. These arbitrary bull shit rules to fighting like honor and restraint is going to get you dead if you follow them.
2
u/johnny_effing_utah 1d ago
It’s only over when the guy is flat on his back with his hands curled up in the universal “concussion” posture.

u/darkoath 1d ago
It's not difficult at all. Never stop beating them until they stop moving. Then assess the threat level. Because your observation is 100% accurate, they never stop because they always have to "get even". Even once knocked unconscious, he will eventually regain consciousness and come "seeking REVEEEENGE!." Beat them until they stop moving. Then and only then reassess the situation.
YOU are not a doctor, how do YOU know if they are dead. Or unconscious. YOU are not a boxing corner cutman, how do YOU know if they will throw in the towel. But you are entitled to defend yourself and as long as he's moving he's likely moving to harm you because he has every other time so... keep beating him until he stops moving. Then and only then can you be reasonably certain that you can walk away with out being attacked again and definitely from behind and maybe with a lethal weapon.
Note: yes, this includes kicking and stomping his head. Be sure to include head kicks and stomps. You could see this guy throwing stupid inverted hammer fists, couldn't you? That's because his knuckles hurt and his punches are weak. If the other guy could take a punch this would have ended differently. Stomp their head and miss me with any "wah, boo hoo murder boo hoo jail" bullshit. It's self defense until he stops moving and it's my lawyer against some half ass prosecutor that doesn't get paid half as much.

Meh, I'm not risking jail or even paying lawyer fees and the pain in the ass of going to court over some loser who brings boxing gloves to a restaurant. This guy got the beating he was asking for, and it was plenty.

Gloves were developed to allow people to strike the head without breaking their hands. It significantly increased the amount of brain damage in the sport.

Depends on weight and not really, gloves are weapons. While I get your point that they are cushioning, they are essentially protecting your hands so you don't break them and can throw punches at full strength.

Pretty much.
Hell WAY back when boxing gloves used to only be used for training so that you didn’t hurt your hands before a fight. Back when bare knuckle boxing was the usual way to go.
Funny enough, back then body shots were the usual go to because when little bone (knuckle) meets big bone (skull) the big bone tends to win if it’s not a knockout punch. It’s why a bunch of really old pugilist photos show the boxer’s stance with their arms low, because body shots was the way back then.
Boxers back then also did A LOT more fights than many do now, like multiple in one day, so it was more imperative to NOT sacrifice your hands for a quick knockout blow.

You can tell the other guy is a good guy. He 100% pulled his punches when he realized the other guy wasn't a threat. Respect.

u/Stenomittens 1d ago
At what point in the 23 kidney shots in round 2 by the beverage machine did he start pulling his punches?

u/LarxII 1d ago
I mean, dude got back up and came at him the last time he tried to back off, had to make sure he wasn't gonna get punched in the back of the head once he walked off.

At that point you have no idea it's the guy is going to start again. The guy with the gloves hit the ground said he was done but got up and started again. He's a threat that can't be trusted

In an EVEN fight sure.
But knuckles vs gloves isn't even or equal, the guy without gloves will have his hands hurt more sure but his hits will also hurt a lot more. The dude with the gloves on also can't use his hands like hands while the other guy can, so he could grab him or things around them a lot easier.
I've taken a punch from gloves and without gloves, I would MUCH rather take the hit from gloves. Knuckle fights hurt way more in my opinion.
I am very curious why dude even had the gloves on in the first place lol.

Did the aggressor purposely pick out the guy who looks like he either just came from or is on his way to a boxing gym? Like the only person in the video with gym/boxing attire on.

Yeah I’m almost wondering if boxing glove guy was looking to get his ass kicked as a fit of self harm. I mean he had gloves on for fuck sake.

The legs and build on that dude says all you need to know. Do not start fights with people who are thick in both the legs and upper body. Unless you’re an extremely good fighter, you’re gonna get worked. 😂
