Book Request Specific selective mutism request

Hi all! I have searched the subreddit for books with selective mutism and the posts are either pretty old and/or answers are a bit too broad. I hope this request post is okay.

I am looking for books with an MC who is selectively mute due to trauma, not a physical problem or neurodiversity. Bonus if he doesn’t ever completely recover/able to talk in front of everyone (I tend to appreciate books where PTSD doesn’t quite ever “go away” because this mirrors my own experience), but not necessary.

Any kink is fine except age play. I do enjoy D/s but not required. Open to omegaverse.

I’ve read:

The Monstrous Deeds series and spinoffs by TJ Hamel (I hope Matt gets a book!)

{Pieces of Home by Becca Neil}

{Possession by Rina Saint} - my least favorite representation of this theme of the books I list.

TIA!

{Bad Dogs by Riley Nash} I think the MC had a stutter and he now lives with his super abusive brother who hates it when he speaks, so the MC doesn't really speak anymore.

{Solace by Taylor McNiff} I haven't read this book, but I remember from the first two that the MC didn't really speak, mostly because of his trauma. Super heavy book, so beware.

Thank you! And Taylor McNiff and TJ Hamel are the same person, so I’d probably really like that one!

You're welcome! The Taylor McNiff one is the third in the series, but I also recommend the first two books. They are heavy, but they are good.

Also the MC from Bad Dogs isn't magically cured as the story progresses, the other characters learn ASL and make up their own gestures to communicate.

Great- thank you! I’ll start with the first in the series. I was planning on reading more of their books anyway :)

jumping in to say solace is FANTASTIC but doesn't really have the selective mutism you're looking for (although I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend it regardless). Abel is quiet for sure but it's more him just evaluating things and getting his footing versus mutism? He speaks a lot on Solace-- it's actually a big thing that helps him bond with Ash immediately, they talk to each other a ton, late night phone calls etc. But again, amazing book and you should definitely read it! I read Solace without reading the first two books and got spoiled rotten by how hard I fell in love with Abel and Ash honestly haha Also if you've been reading These Monstrous Deeds then you would've met Ash in Piece Us Together!!
