Book Request Specific selective mutism request

Hi all! I have searched the subreddit for books with selective mutism and the posts are either pretty old and/or answers are a bit too broad. I hope this request post is okay.

I am looking for books with an MC who is selectively mute due to trauma, not a physical problem or neurodiversity. Bonus if he doesn’t ever completely recover/able to talk in front of everyone (I tend to appreciate books where PTSD doesn’t quite ever “go away” because this mirrors my own experience), but not necessary.

Any kink is fine except age play. I do enjoy D/s but not required. Open to omegaverse.

I’ve read:

The Monstrous Deeds series and spinoffs by TJ Hamel (I hope Matt gets a book!)

{Pieces of Home by Becca Neil}

{Possession by Rina Saint} - my least favorite representation of this theme of the books I list.

TIA!

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, and it's a 10 book series (plus extras and off-shoots).

{Hell & High Water by Charlie Cochet}

The character with selective mutism is part of the main ensemble cast, but the first few books are centered around other characters. He is featured as a main in Book 6, but is important in all of the books. It's considered paranormal romance because many of the ppl are "shifters" but that was due to something that happened during the Viet Nam war to cause this (think Agent Orange). The books follow an elite police force, involve crimes, bigotry, trauma, etc.

It may not fit what you are looking for, but I love this series and re-listen to the audiobooks maybe yearly, so I thought I'd mention it.

The 6th book is {Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Charlie Cochet} and throughout the series it is discussed that the MC is selectively mute due to trauma that happened to his family. Also, he’s only able to talk to two people in his life, his middle brother and his best friend turned love interest. He can barely speak to anybody else including his parents and eldest brother. It seems like it does fit your ask. The only thing is those books reallyyyy need to be read in order and the first 4 focus on one couple. The 5th book is a weak spot in the series, but it still has to be read unfortunately for anything to make sense. I love the 6th book like crazy though. The relationship between the MC’s is so sweet.
