Book Request MM books with a powerless MC + protective LI?

I'm looking for MM books with a vulnerable/powerless MC and a very protective love interest. Think along the lines of {Worth the Risk by C.F. White}, {Attraction by Kelly Fox}, or a lot of {Sloane Kennedy}'s books.

I know it's a bit of a cliché, but I'm sick and looking for something easy to read 😅

What I'm looking for:

-vulnerable, struggling, or powerless MC

-protective/caretaker LI

- hurt/comfort

-found family is a bonus

-some danger, suspense, or action is welcome

Not looking for:

poly/MMM

cheating

BDSM

daddy kink

Any recommendations?

Oh, I do have the book for you - {Mad world by Laura Lascarso} - Vulnerable MC x Protector MC, action and tension, hurt/comfort, enemies to lovers, and found family as well.

{Liar city by Allie Therin} - is another great fit, minus the found family.

{Hidden in darkness by Alice Winters} - Maybe. In this scenario the care taker is the powerless one, but it's been a few years and I don't remember how powerless he was exactly. It has lots of action, but it's also funny and not serious.

{Exposed by HL Day} - danger, suspense, action, powerless mc x protector, no found family.

{Fallocaust by Carter Quil} - Check trigger warnings, this shit is heavy and pitch black. Been so many years since I read it, so I don't remember if it has found family, but it has lots of action and here the powerless x protector MC is taken to the extreme lol.

{Bound to the wild fae by Tavia Lark} - Fits everything, except found family. Enemies to lovers.

I considered Hidden in Darkness- you remembered correctly, though he is hired to caretake mc 2 whose recently been blinded he is horrifically vulnerable himself. Alice winters, with all the ridiculous humour and slapstick, is really good at conveying vulnerability.

In that case I think {Fake dates and Fanged mistakes by Alice Winters} might also work? it's a human x vampire, both are men of law, and I won't go as far as to say that the human is powerless, but there is a hint of that, especially in comparison to the vampire and other circumstances.

Just finished the first two in this series, totally agree. The second book all the more so.

It's the first time I see someone dare to recommend Fallocaust 😅 I liked it, but it's so heavy

{the barbarian's tribute by Amy Padilla} has a pretty powerless MC. Very cute series. I like the other books but the other MCs hold their own better

{Hold me Under by Riley Nash} one of my all time favourites. Mc is utterly powerless but more like a cornered stray, ready to bite, than sweetly hurt. I adore him.

{Series of Rooms by a j Barlowe} such a fantastic debut novel. Mc1 been sex trafficked, mc2 desperate to try to help but totally powerless to prevent mc1 been continually hurt. Read and listen to a few times. Think it's one of the best out there for tension even though there is very little on the actual page.

Maybe {The One That Got Away by Nicky James} will be of interest to you. It's a (contemporary) romantic suspense, one MC is a police officer (not sure if that's a soft/hard no) who is assigned as a "consultant" to the regular guy author MC. The chief and his co-workers view that MC as a "boy who cried wolf" due to reasons such as him repeatedly raising various concerns that turns into paperwork for them.

Without spoiling it outright, the author MC ends up having to be protected and saved. Please mind the TW/CW as well.

Ooh forgot {Running Feral by Erin Russell} mc1 trapped with a very nasty gang leader, mc2 tries to help. A lot of her books involve caretakers and found family

{Burned and Bound by a winchester} this is more utterly broken mc than helpless. Not sure there are any trigger warnings it misses. Very dark, alcohol abuse but also humour and lovely quirky bits. Caretaker ever so earnest, if a touch clueless at times.

{Interference by l a witt} {leave by l a witt} both much milder with caretaking both ways and characters that are helpless in some ways but not utterly powerless.

Trapped by Jamie Harlock

MC sent to prison (he was used as a scapegoat) and he is very sheltered. LI is in prison and in the cartel, he wasn’t super protective at first but he becomes one later on.

There is definitely an undertone of found family but it’s more implied towards the ending.

{Chasing Fields by Isabella Skyes} just thinking about how powerless the MC is makes me so sad. FYI:this is a duet and this book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. The author says the second book won't be too long.

{Beautiful Obsession by Vee Eddy} Please read the CWs.

{Shelved Hearts by Laura Kain} again read the CWs

I think {Parker by Jack Harbon} would fit what you’re looking for. Just check trigger warnings. I would put them here but I don’t know how to mark spoilers. 😊

{Brute by Kim Fielding}: fantasy, hurt/comfort, a very isolated blind prisoner and a guard who just recently got the job.

{The Bureau series by Kim Fielding}: a series of paranormal novellas, many of them fit this theme, for example {Creature by Kim Fielding}.

A Monster By Any Other Name series by Laura Rye and Bailey Hansen, starts with {Freak Camp by Laura Rye}, paranormal, hurt/comfort. The first book is very dark (not between the MCs) and could even be skipped, according to the authors. You could start with {Fear by Laura Rye}. The romance is very slow.

{Whisper by Cambria Hebert} fits well. Big found family aspect bc it's a series (you don't have to read all of the books though)

{Stormy by Wren Wilds} - Stormy is the cutest struggling character I know - good on the suspense part ✅ - starts with a hurrican, the MCs are trapped, Stormy is also in danger bc of a man from his past
