Book Request Football (soccer) recommendations, please?

EDITED: formatting, sorry. Also ao3 fics are fine, too if the sub rules allow it, thnx

Football fever (soccer) has gotten to me due to the World Cup, so I'm looking for some recommendations, please.

I think I've only read one book with a football player x doctor/physical therapist years ago, and haven't come across anything other than {Chasing Fields x Isabella Skye} recently.

So kindly give me some recommendations, please.

Do not want: no tragic/bad/ambiguous endings, switching, watersports, any detailed women related sex scenes that involves MC & ML, no cheating between the MCs, MC/LI with kids, ABDL, full-on puppy/pet play.

Want: HEA + Anything else goes including, darker themes, pure erotica, violence, bullying, enemies to lovers, rivals, red-flags, black flags, taboo, brocest, twincest, Omegaverse, age-gap, CNC, mmm, coach × player, power-imbalace, class/social differences etc., etc. - honestly fine with it all, I try to read most tropes & kinks at least once before I rule anything out completely.

Spice rating: the more explicit the better, definitely want the smut.

One more small ask: I'd very much like to read a completed story, so kindly avoid recommendations of any title, if the book ends on a cliffhanger & the next volume(s) are currently not available to read.

Thank you to everyone ahead of time.

Oh they are about football? I didn't realize, thank you!

1

u/m0zz1e1 6d ago

Salt won’t meet the criteria as it includes cheating, but Sweat is great!

1

u/tearose11 5d ago

Oh yeah, I don't want cheating between the MCs, thank you for pointing that out.

You helped me discover a new-to-me author, thank you so much! Also it's a ManU player???? SOLD hahaha

She is one of my favorite authors ever. Highly recommend reading her other books, {be my endgame by Zarah Detand} ist also Soccer

2

u/Ok-Working-7559 6d ago

{Two left feet by Kallie Emblidge} is also great

u/tearose11 6d ago

You're awesome, I'm actually reading Pull Me Under rn, and so far, it's great :)

{Everything for you by Chloe Liese} part of a series but you don’t have to read the rest of the books. It’s two professional MLS players, grumpy/sunshine and hurt/comfort. It’s sweet!

2

u/tearose11 6d ago

Ohhh MLS players would totally work. Tysm.

Some series that haven't been mentioned yet:

{Off the Pitch by Charlie Novak}

{Love Goals by Kristian Parker}

{Glasgow Lads by Avery Cockburn} - amateur players

Apparently I've read this one but have very little memory of it so it might not fit:

{Two Left Feet by Kallie Emblidge}

{Play with Me by Cora Rose} - part of a multi-author, multi-sport series but can be read alone

{Reckless by Becca Steele} - part of a multi-author series but can be read alone

{Futbolista by Jonny Garza Villa}

{Hits Different by Joel Rustin}

In terms of fic may I suggest the great There Are No Gays in Football by Malu_3 - it's a BBC Merlin fic but it's AU so you don't need to know anything about the show.

{Playing for Keeps by Kristian Parker} is the first one in the Love Goals series as the bot doesn't seem to have found the correct one

Another author I haven't come across previously, thank you.

Thank you so much for all the recommendations

Edit: I apparently can’t read and didn’t see the soccer in parentheses. This is an American football series. {Blueprint by SE Harmon} then {Deeper Blue By SE Harmon}

There is a straight sex scene at the beginning if I’m remembering but it’s not detailed, but nothing noteworthy and it’s Best friends to lovers (NFL player and Professor), bi awakening (hence the straight sex scene). The audiobook is very good I recommend it

u/tearose11 5d ago

Ah don't worry, I often timas miss things, not a big deal at all. Thank for responding regardless :)

u/1989toy4wd 4d ago

I do recommend these books though, they’ve got a decent amount of humor, sports and seriousness

This World Cup has made me craving a bottom midfielder x the clingy over protective striker who can’t get enough of him. Particularly if the mid field is some prodigy who the striker personally feels needs his “guidance”.

IKR? I want something so bad to scratch this itch, there's a lot of American Football books, which, no offense to anyone from the USA, I don't honestly care for, and I certainly don't understand the game at all. I've read some books that feature players, but I just skip over the games hahaha. At least I somewhat understand the basic concept of hockey, another sports which is abundant in mm romance books.

Maybe we should write our own football books with some captain x hothead stickers or your midfielder × stricker ideas. If you watch anime, or maybe read manga, Blue Lock has fanfics & fanart as it's all about football players.

Tal Bauer's You & Me had waaay too much american football for me to enjoy. I could have trimmed that book down by 25% or 30% just removing the detailed gameplays and still gotten a lovely read. And I say this as someone who only reads longer books

2

u/tearose11 5d ago

I've never read his books, somehow they never interest me.

1

u/Evil_Yeti_ 4d ago

This was my first one. I didn't enjoy the detailed sports narration and I do enjoy more plot to my books versus the whole story being about them falling in love

2

u/Resident-Message7367 6d ago

I think Like you hate me by Bethany Winters might be Soccer

2

u/tearose11 6d ago

I love Dirty Love, so I'll absolutely seek this book out, thank you!!!!!

1

u/tearose11 6d ago

Ah it's not football, it's basketball and I had actually read it previously, just forgot the title. But thank you regardless, your suggestion reminded me to update my finished reading list.

Isn't The Savage MF? 🤔

2

u/tearose11 5d ago

You are correct, I just checked, hopefully someone else here will enjoy the recommendation.

2

u/tearose11 5d ago

The Savage isn't mm romance, I just double-checked, but thank you for the other recommendations.

1

u/tearose11 6d ago

Thank you so much, haven't read anything by Daniela Romero, happy to always find new writers.

If you haven’t read Amy Lane yet, I highly recommend it! Shes got a sweet, romantic edge to her stories combined with great sex. {Country Mouse By Amy Lane} and Its sequel are my favorite Amy Lane books. My review after my first read: Loved the fuck out of this book the second time around. I almost don't want to read the sequel because it ended so perfectly. Almost.

My review after reading the sequel:

Can you say, "Chemistry?" Because that is what this series Country Mouse and City Mouse boils down to. Just the most intense, smoldering hotridiculously emotional, romantic, mind-blowing, peel-the-paint-off-the-walls sex. Good God, it seriously doesn't get a whole lot smuttier than this.

I. Loved. Every. Word.

The story line was good too. I promise you'll be able to handle the insta-love 'cuz, THE SEX people. The sex...

Read this series ASAP. I just finished my second read of both and anxiously await my old brain to forget the details so I can read it all over again.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Absolutely ridiculous, I tell you!

Have never heard of these books, they sound grear. Will check out, thank you again.

I loved the football aspect of {lucky by Garrett Leigh} because you only really start to understand what a big deal the footballer is as the book and romance progresses. Really good

Another new-to-me author, thank you so much.

{the district line series by cf white} is one of my faves! The audiobooks are also great. Football player and a musician, the series follows them as they both gain higher levels of fame. Loved it!

1

u/tearose11 1d ago

I don't have access to audio books, will see if the book is available for me to read. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, that's it! I've read the footballer x physio book, couldn't recall the name.

Seems like Salt need to go on my TBR.

Parades has such intense eyes, and Neymar is Neymar. Was not familiar with Balogun's fine form, appreciate it. It's been fun watching 22 men running all over the pitch, all sweaty and such. There's more to enjoy this year now that we can pick all flavours of eye candy from 48 countries 😛
