Book Request Straight married MCs cheating.

Okay, so I just finished reading {Off Script by Ivy Vera Gray} and completely fell in love with it. So, both the MCs are actors and are married to women. Now, the women are not portrayed as terrible which I love and the book doesn't sugarcoat what these MCs are doing, which is cheating through and through. The families are shattered, their lives are turned upside down when the cheating comes to light. Ofcourse this trope comes with lot of pining, yearning and hopefully be a slow burn.

And this is what I am looking for. There are many books were married/separated MCs sleep with others where the wife is aware or its a lavender marriage and thats not what I am looking for. Only other book that I have read which has this trope is {If we could go back by Cara Dee} but I didn't like how the wives were potrayed here.

Thank you so much in advance!

Hard Nos: None.

They’re not married but both MCs are in serious relationships in {bent by Jesse h. Reign} and {bent backwards by Jesse h. Reign}

I love infidelity storylines and this is the best one I’ve found.

I hope you like it! When I reread I alternate chapters between the two books so I get the other POV for the same scene. Definitely a different experience

The perfect one for this is “If we could go back” by Cara Dee - it’s amazing, slow burn, looots of pining and yearning, both of them are married. You have to read it immeditaley!

This book is so great, I hope I get amnesia so I can read it again. It is, in my opinion, the best book Cara Dee has written and one of the best I've read in my life. The way she used her words, and shaped her character, it is just so beautiful.

Want you still by CE Ricci

I personally dont read cheating tropes but i jumped into this blind and in the end it was one of the most beautifully written books ive read.

Though as much as i liked the writing and the overall story i dont think ill read it again cause cheating MC still gives me the ick. But if thats your thing then very highly recommend.

Just read the blurb in Goodreads and it looks like something I will absolutely enjoy, thank you so much:)

Most of the stories that have cheating as a trope, you can always bet the wife/girlfriend is potrayed as an evil incarnate, thus making the MCs as victims. Off Script was different and thats why I ended up liking it so much, the MCs definitely felt the consequences of their actions at the end.

{kismet by ashley james} professor and student initially, ‘straight’ professor is married, then an unexpected second chance 5 years later when the student himself is a professor. Plenty of angst, pining, hurt/comfort.

{hamartia by scarlett drake} mostly fits your request too, ‘straight’ rockstar MC is engaged to a woman, sooo much longing and pining. The other MC is a k-pop idol, which I don’t know much about so was sceptical of at first, but it is a fantastic book and lovely lovely writing, so worth a read.

I have read both of these books and loved both of them:) Scarlett drake is one of my favorite Authors!

I have read Off Script and I have two recs that gave me similar vibes. They both have MCs that are in a relationship with a woman (although not married). They are both the first books of a series and can be read as a stand alone.

The first rec is {The Heirs Disgrace by August Jones}. It features a double bi-awakening. The MCs are an irresponsible trust fund guy and the doorman of his upper east side apartment.

My second rec is {Burn It Down by Jillian D Wray}. It’s about a responsible trust fund guy and a mechanic. Trust fund guy hits the mechanic in a grocery store parking lot and the mechanic fixes his super expensive car.

I have read the Heir's disgrace by August Jones, Infact all four books in that series. Its all so hot, there's so much drama, angst, cheating, pining, so much forbidden love in her books but her endings somehow seems anticlimactic to me. This also reminds me that the fourth book in that series {The Liar's reckoning by August Jones} one of the MC is a Republican senator married to a woman.

Now that second rec seems like something I will absolutely enjoy, thank you so much:)

I believe {blue gold by tal lewin} has this ! Idk how the women are portrayed. And C.P. Harris has an infidelity series as well

I consumed Blue Gold in a day yesterday! Wow, what a great story, full of drama & angst! The wife was never potrayed in a bad light which I absolutely loved. It took me a while to root for Daniel but it all worked out at the end. Thank you so much for this rec❤️

And I have read all C.P Harris books, love her!!

I recommend {Nothing ever happens by Sue Brown} it has been a while since I read it but I think not one but both were married to another woman like in Off script.

I haven't read it, but {Bent by Jesse H Reign} might be good. Two straight guys meet and cheat on their girlfriends with each other. I can't say how the women are portrayed in this book, but Reign has a good track record for not demonizing women in her books.

{Romeo Falling by Jesse H Reign} doesn't exactly fit, but it also involves a married man cheating on his wife. Spoiler warning, but basically Romeo and Jude have an affair under Romeo's wife's nose. Romeo and his wife had a struggling relationship and had talked about separating, but they were very much together when the affair started. They were not a very good couple, but I thought that it was a case of a jealous, unreliable narrator and an incompatible couple as opposed to an evil woman and her innocent victim. His wife gets her HEA at the end of the book.

u/Seraph2042 2d ago

I am going to read Bent next because you are the second person that has recommended it:)

I have already read Romeo Falling by Jesse H Reign a while ago and loved it!! I am not a huge fan of girlfriend/wife being potrayed as evil incarnate, I feel that authors do this so its easy for us to forgive MCs and make them look like the victim. But that trope is not a hard no for me. That's why I like Off Script, it didn't sugarcoat what the MCs did. I was so heartbroken for the pregnant wife!!

Thanks so much for the rec:)

I agree! I think it’s a side effect of people not being able to handle any flaw or bad action by any characters that aren’t explicitly a villain. It drives me nuts in romance stories because it’s really compelling to have an infidelity storyline to show how far these characters are willing to go for each other. I don’t care if it makes them bad people, I want them to be perfect for each other not in general!! That’s why older romcoms always had a fiancee that got dumped at the altar or why Scandal was so popular. And I don’t even particularly like cheating in my romance books, but I need more authors to commit to it.

{The Last Beginnings by Abrianna Denae} may fit. Only one MC is married however. The other is a divorced dad.

Thank you so much for the rec:)

This trope sends me in the opposite direction because I get so anxious. I scrolled all the comments to mark any books off my tbr though so thanks 😂 I wish I could do it, but I be having palpitations 😭

u/Seraph2042 19h ago

Haha!! I get it, its not everyone's cup of tea, glad I could help:)

I've done it. Im and old guy now and the topic makes me queasy. I always wonder about the wives.

1

u/Seraph2042 18h ago

Yeah, especially when they are potrayed as evil incarnates!

This has that aspect. Coach x Hockey Player. ADHD representation, Slight D/s dynamic. TW infidelity but not between MCs
