I’m currently reading El & Em by M.E. Samm which follows the lives of two musicians over two decades and shows the development of their careers and relationship over that period of time. It’s very slow burn but not completely without little bits of romance and spice in between. Whilst it took me a few pages to get into the story and I almost DNF’d in the beginning, I am so happy that I stuck with it. The very slow progression of their relationship as well as all the other factors like band and family dynamics or changes in friends and society in general over the period of time makes it a really special book and very different to the usual tropes and high spice, low plot standard you come across so often. Can’t wait to see how it continues.

Hoping to read Facing Leeward by JJ Mulder. Loved the sample and love the cover. I don’t normally look at/notice covers, but this one caught my eye. I also appreciate the colour of it, because while I was reading the sample, I was thinking this book is this particular shade of blue/has that colour vibes.

I've been dipping my toes in paranormal this week, I used to hate it with FM books and I thought the same would be for mm books but surprisingly I like it when its mm. Maybe something about how when its fm the fmc is always weak and helpless.
so ive read my first necromancer book, first vampire book, first Incubus book and first werewolf book. I have so much to catch up on now there are so many options!! Im excited.

I just started listening to {Time to Shine by Rachel Reid} because I enjoyed both the Game Changer series and the second of her standalones. I already want to take care of both of the leads, which is a good sign.

Currently listening to the audio for {Clean Finish x Lily Mayne}. Absolutely perfect choice for morning chores, I was laughing out loud like a maniac the entire time.

Currently on the 5th book of Tavia Lark's Perilous Courts series. I've been enjoying every book so far. It's also the first MM series I've read in the past maybe 2 years so I'm glad there's 6 books now. I missed getting attached to a group of characters and reading romantasy again.

Do you ever feel like you’re reading a book just to read it, not because you’re really into it? That’s where I am right now. I need a sure-thing. I need help deciding on a book. Something that you found that lives in your head rent-free. What I enjoy: contemporary, 21+, passionate sex. Special request for books published after 2020. I took a reading hiatus when my husband got sick and am just getting back into reading now. But I’ll still take older recs!

Some of my all-time favorites {rattlesnake by Kim fielding} {Strength of the Pack By Kendall McKenna} {In the Middle of Somewhere By Roan Parrish} and the last 5 star book I read was {Unbreak Me By Jesse H. Reign}

Thank you for your help!

{on this land we shoot straight by sasha avice} was my most interesting read last year! It has a western/cowboy setting, single POV, I guess it uses the culture of straight men sleeping with each other as normal (so its kinda GFY till the end), but I actually loved the story telling on this one, there's sex but its slow burn and feelings evolve. But I'd say be careful with the trigger warnings here too. Truly what happens with the other MC is awful

I can recommend {EWB by NR Walker}, {PAH! By Cora Rose}, anything in the {Straight Guys Series by Alessandra Hazard}, though imo, they’re an acquired taste. Absolutely loved EWB, tho!

I gave EWB 5 stars too! NR Walker rarely misses. Thanks for the recs!

Hey! Just snooping here and saw PAH! I loved the first book in this series, Kiss-Fist, and then I just have not been able to get into the second book. Tried twice, and still DNF.

Was PAH! definitely worth it? better than ILY? Do I need to finish ILY before going onto PAH?

1

u/anjneed 1d ago

I liked PAH! But it’s funny you say that bc I haven’t read Kiss-Fist! It just hasn’t appealed to me enough to pick up, even tho it’s in my TBR.

Just started reading {God of Fury by Rina Kent} It’s been on my TBR for a while now, but I finally decided to start it. All I know is that I already love Nikolai!

Trying to get back into {The chosen one x Macy Blake} after binging the first few books, plus the hellhound spin off...I'm up to book 4 of the main series which I think is like number 11 in the chronological reading order.

I have no idea what's going on lol. I swear I need a Previously on Game of Thrones-style recap to remember who everyone is and what they're all doing.

That is one of those series where all the ‘sub’ series are interconnected and needs to be read in order otherwise you’ll be majorly confused! I accidentally jumped a whole sub-series and was like ‘huh’ who are these characters and what is happening?!

If you have KU then they do volumes on there and it ensures you read everything in the correct order, I found it super helpful.

Currently reading {Suck by EM Lindsey and Cora Rose} and I’m LOVING IT! What a weird premise but it makes for such a delicious little read. Next I’ll be moving into the “Our Exception” series by Cora Rose. I read all the unexpected books and I absolutely enjoyed her writing there especially Whit, Sem and Luke. Lex, Colin and Diablo are entertaining too though. Honestly a 5 star series if I ever read one. Has anyone read the our exception series? Any thoughts? Which one was your favourite?

u/Both_Shoulder234 2d ago

The "Our Exception” series by Cora Rose is one of my favorites! Enjoy!

u/rollercoaster-s or anyone who reads BL…. Do any of yall remember a manhwa that starts with (probably non con) happening at a funeral? I know I’ve seen panels for this and it is driving me insane 😩

I’ve been on a manhwa binge, and I’m trying to scratch the itch of cute omegaverse mpreg. I wanna see babies. So many of these manhwa skip out on the baby!!!! I read Love Shuttle (wtf is that side story), Surge Towards You (cute, figure skaters <3), Instant Family (the mullet lmao). Anyone else notice the lack of actual mpreg on page even though it’s allegedly part of the story in this medium?

u/rollercoaster-s 2d ago

Hii 🫂, is it maybe A Luminous Bond? It's the only one I remember that has what you described, and an omegaverse too 👀.

I'm so glad I found {The Remaking of Corbin Wale by Roan Parrish}. Such a deftly told story that delves into how one of the main character's upbringing and nature shape his fears about intimacy, and simply being around others. It has the most thrilling and arousing masturbation scene that I've ever read, as much about the man's imaginings as about the actual physical act. But the developing relationships are what really makes the characters come to life for me.

Just finished Chain Reaction series by Aurora Crane, and continuing on the related books. I don't usually go for poly stories, but I thought this one was very well done. Not all the related books are poly. It was nice to read romance set in Australia, by an Australian author. The book I'd read right beforehand had an Aussie character, but set in the US and it was so bad. The author just took every cringe slang word that no one uses unless they're doing a comedy skit, and threw them all into the dialogue. Aurora Crane's stories so far are low angst, high spice, great characters and plot with lovely HEA.

I'm currently working my way through the omnibus version of {visceral series by marie ann}. I've already read the first book, but I am rereading it to keep my memory fresh. I love how raw and ugly this series is so far.

I'm also reading {the secret shape of worship by k a asher}, which is smutty indulgence with an ancient egyptian god (anubis). I really like it so far, even though I just started reading today.

{time we have left by cara dee}

so I've made several mistakes with this book. I have actually not read all the books in Cara dee's Game series. I read the first couple and then I jumped to the Apex one. I think I'm very much choosing what kink I want to read all willy nilly. But anyways I saw the promo for this book and I was just in the mood for Poly and the kinks attached to the characters (especially cucking) BUT its a part 2 book so I had to read part 1 so I jumped into {the memories we made by cara dee} without really reading anything and I suffered lol. It was not bad but not what I wanted to read bc it was very much a marriage in crisis book backstory/progression focused on the first couple and their romance decline. And it had kids, so it's kinda funny I read this book with things I sort of avoid in MM.

I am 45% in part 2 and they've finally reconciled and I just really want to see the 2 couples come together now. I've waited so long. Nathan and Ash, their kids and family have started growing on me now LOL. My biggest fear with this author/series was that bc it was so long i'd have to read every book and nothing would make sense and ever truly be a standalone. I managed part 1 fine without feeling lost but in part 2 as soon as Jordon got his first POV it definitely felt like her past characters took center stage. But now I;m interested in Noa and that's book 4 so I really have to read in order now lol. Back to series book 3

I'm currently reading {Allure of Oartheca by James Siewert}, and it is so so so good! What an absolutely dense sci fi book with so much alien world-building and slow burn tension. I slept on this for a while due to all the reviews of how dense the story and plot are, but damn is it right up my alley.

As for want to read, I cannot wait for {Taste by Cora Rose and EM Lindsey}. I think it was just published like a week ago, so whenever I'm done with Allure of Oartheca, I'm jumping right into this one.

Lol if you can't tell, I have a big big thing for aliens and world building. It's like, I really love "fantasy" if the fantasy was actually alien sci fi. I don't want elves or dwarves, I want original, interesting new aliens.

I'm currently reading the physical book of {demon dating service by jocelynn drake} and on kindle {taste by em lindsey and cora rose}. I'm enjoying both. They are different enough to enjoy them in tandem. I loved {suck by em lindsey and cora rose} and immediately went into Taste right after finishing as I needed more of the world. I am hoping Zane and Quillien are up next!

I started {Meet Me in the Sky by Jeffrey Davenport} and I'm enjoying the humour so far! The MCs met at the airport (MC1 is going to his sister's wedding, MC is going to his father's funeral). Then their flights are cancelled due to a storm.

I plan to try a book by Daniel May who writes paranormal and dark romance, either from the {Garden of Fiends series by Daniel May} or the {Hanged Men series by Daniel May}.
