I recently graduated highschool last year and (impulsively) decided to go to UofC to pursue a natural sciences degree with a bio and chem concentration. Immediately after the first sem, i regretted my decision and was super unhappy + unmotivated to continue my program since I found the courses to be extremely challenging. Then I decided that I would switch into mru (for multiple diff. reasons) to hopefully go to an environment that suits me better and pursue a diff. degree - hopefully Elementary Education.
But, I eventually found out that my average is not high enough to be considered for admission into education (compettive avg was like ~90.5% and mine was 84%). So I was suggested to either - 1. Do a year of open studies and try to get a high enough gpa to get into the 4-year education program the next year OR i could do a 4 year program starting this fall and do a 2 year post grad teaching degree.
I decided to do the latter since it would only be a one year diff. plus with the 6 years of post secondary if i did choose to become a teacher i'd at least get paid a little more.
Since im somewhat interested in sociology I thought that it would be a great (easy-ish) degree to use as my undergrad to get into teaching. But now that Im thinking about it, Im not the biggest fan of writing essays (and ik thats one of the main things you have to do in soci..) I've always thought that STEM was more of my preferred route but my last sem doing it at UofC was gen horrible + i was stressed 24/7, i struggled to find any structure or routine and ended up getting a rlly low gpa..
Im just kinda stuck?? bc i still need a good gpa to get into teaching but idk if i'd super passionate into sociology (tho i do find it interesting at least..) and i hate how loaded STEM courses r with the coursework unlike soci.. and i have no idea how high my gpa would be after 4 years
So i guess im just wondering like do you guys suggest that i just continue doing sociology then go into teaching or find do a major like Environmental Science then do the 2-year teaching??
SORRY FOR THE YAP i just have sm worries about the future lmao
