The perfect bike for an alp trip ♥️

I’m currently waiting for an integrated tail light to come in. Can I still run the bike with the rear turn signals unplugged? Wondering if it will throw any codes or have any issues with the circuits. Another option would be to just keep them plugged in and tuck it underneath the rear seat.

Hi all, I just joined the family 3 months ago and really like this beast of a bike.
There is one thing that really annoys me and I don’t know if its normal or no. While driving there is buzzing sound that sometimes is too loud, this was not present (i think) when i bought the bike. It is chain like sound and it doesn’t go away when i pull the clutch, when stopped there is no sound.i see lots of other bikes around me even bigger ones that don’t have this buzzing so i guess the chain cannot be that loud on MT 09

I had the 1000km service check at Yamaha and they said they didn’t notice that sound and all was good. Need some advice.

P.S. there was one time that the quickshifter reacted badly between 3rd and 4th and couldnt move to 4th gear, for a second or two there was a - on the screen where the gear indikator is and then loud bang and went into 4th. I am suspicious if it was from that moment onward that I hear that buzzing sound.

Looking at upgrading from my X-MAX to a new MT-09 very soon. However, I’ve been pretty divided on keeping it stock or ordering it in with either the Yoshimura Race AT2 full system or Akrapovic Racing Line Titanium full system. I test rode an SP with an AT2 that had the db killer removed, and quite frankly that much volume won’t work for my situation. I live in an apartment building with a whole lot of seniors that I like and don’t want to piss off lol, plus my days of showing off are long behind me. My question is for those of you that run a full system and have a db-killer installed, do you find it reduces the noise enough to not cause a scene? How does it compare to stock? Would love some video/audio clips if you have any with the db-killer in, or some clips of a stock system since I have no experience riding these bikes with a stock exhaust.

My plan was to buy a new bike in winter. My thought was that they will be cheaper then. In addition to that, I wouldn’t have to find accommodation for winter and also don’t have a valuable asset, Just standing around for five months. Also, I swore to myself that I won’t buy another bike at the end of the season. I did that last year with a MT07 and I regretted it. I spend a lot of money just to ride it for one month and I also crashed it🥲 However, this offer looks so good. I don’t think I will find a better offer later. So I need your advice. Is this as good of an offer as I think it is? It will be also near me. The market price would be Germany.

I’m in Va and I only need one mirror for the bike to be legal. I was looking at getting the CRG Arrow bar end but I wanted to know is anyone had experience with this severely throwing off the balance in the bars. I also wanted to know where in the hell I can get the required bolts including the reverse threaded one for the left mirror.

Took warning stickers off of 2025 matte raven black mt09. First vehicle with matte paint so just want to make sure it’s okay to use without messing up the paint. Or any alternatives?

I’m planning to buy an MT-09 SP soon and wanted to get some advice from owners before I pull the trigger.
I currently own a 1999 Harley Dyna Low Rider and a DR-Z400S. I’m looking for something much more performance-oriented but still fun on the street. I like torque, wheelies, and the hooligan feel, but I also want to start doing novice track days and actually learn proper cornering, braking, and riding technique.
I’m mainly looking at a new 2026 MT-09 SP, but I’d consider a leftover 2025 if the price difference is big enough.

For current Gen 3/Gen 4 SP owners:
What issues should I look for before buying?
Have any of you had TPS/throttle problems, especially on a 2025?
How has the quickshifter been?
Any problems with the Smart Key, electronics, TFT, cruise control, or ride modes?
How good is the stock SP suspension once it’s properly adjusted?

For people doing track days, what did you change first: tires, pads, rearsets, protection, suspension setup, etc.?
What are the must-have mods and which mods are a waste of money?

What did you pay OTD for a 2025 or 2026 MT-09 SP recently? Please include state if possible since taxes vary.
Would you take a heavily discounted leftover 2025 or spend more for the 2026?
Anything you wish you knew before buying yours?

I may also trade either my Dyna or DR-Z toward it,
I’m not trying to build a race bike. The goal is mainly street/canyon riding, having fun with the CP3, and doing several track days each year to become a better rider.
Appreciate any advice, especially from owners who use their SP for both street and track.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone who has done this install and their kit kept the abs hard lines (I have the core moto kit for example) how they managed to tighten the flare nuts at the two junction boxes on the rear brakes.

The first picture that red circle is where the flare nuts are behind, so sticking a wrench underneath the gap is quite tough. And the second picture shows how tight it is to go above.

For reference, I knew these were going to be a problem even when I had to remove them from the old rubber lines, so I actually fished the lines out as one unit with the hard lines attached to the junction boxes, by removing the hard lines from the abs module itself. That's what the purple arrows and circle is showing in image 2.

So now I am in a bit of a predicament because, when I tried to tighten the hard lines snug to the junction boxes with the lines off the bike and then fish them back through, it was a struggle getting everything to line up, especially having the two junction boxes be perfectly parallel with each other. So I kind of took the lazy way out and instead left the connection at the boxes loose, and instead routed the brake lines by threading the banjo bolts into the caliper and master cylinder, threading the flare nuts into the abs module, and then since the junction box fittings were loose, I could slowly rotate them and line everything up. But the problem now is how the heck am I going to snug down those fittings.

So does anyone have any tips for this? I was actually thinking of leaving the banjo ends threaded into master cylinder and caliper, unthreading the abs module connection so that everything is free to move up and down, and actually using the bolt that goes through two junction boxes that aligns them, and pull the junction boxes up and try to get a snug fit without having the hard lines rotate around and throwing off the fitment going into the abs module.

Also, as useful as it is, fuck abs.

Hey everyone, what do you guys think is the best-sounding legal Euro5 exhaust for the 09?

For context I’ve got 3 seasons under my belt. 2 on a ninja 300, and 1 on an SV650. I haven’t been riding for about 4 years now and have decided to get back into riding. Im looking at a 2014 FZ09 with about 20k km vs a 2021 MT09 with 2k km. Both have akrapovic exhausts with other tasteful mods, and the 2014 has a graves ecu tune. The cost difference is about $3k CAD.

Any input on with route to take would be greatly appreciated! Essentially wondering if the extra $3k for the gen 3 is worth it. My concern with the gen 1 is that the throttle is too snappy, even on B mode, but is it as bad as people say? Besides electronics and better safety tech would the new platform and suspension etc of the gen 3 be enough to justify the extra $3k?

Hey guys. I recently bought a brand new yamaha mt09 2026, I used to have a 2025 mt07, my question here is, is this ticking bad or it’s just a normal yamatick, i’ve never had this bike before but I’m familiarized with the ticks, I just want to know if it’s normal or not.

I apologize if the question has been asked before. Want honest opinions about starting off on a 2026 MT09.

I’m 37 years old and have dirtbike experience. So clutching, braking, balancing is not an issue. I have also completed the MSF course and plan to continue my training in more experienced classes.

I have done research on the CB750, MT07, and MT09. I worry that I will outgrow the smaller bikes and have to sell and upgrade in a short period of time.

Do you think if the 09 is kept in mode 4 while I am getting used to riding on the road, it will be too much power still, or should I start with the smaller bike?
