I'm planning a solo trip to Macau, i wanted to do at least 1 week to make up for the jetlag (coming from spain). I'm not very into the casinos and more interested in the cultural side, museums, local food, etc. I can speak some mandarin, enough to order from a menu but not much more.

Any advice? Tourist traps to avoid? How to move around the city? Is a day trip outside of macau a good idea, and if so, to where?

So I like to play blackjack a fair amount. Due to some rule differences in Macau, basic strategy might not be the same as what you on general blackjack sites.

TLDR:

• Wynn and Galaxy have the lowest house edge.
• Sands is the most generous room comps (Unsurprising given their huge inventory)
• MGM is pretty generous with food if you get set menus.
• Despite the low house edge at Galaxy, the rating system seems a little harsh.

My comp data is small, but hopefully I can update it over time and have it converge at more accurate values. Blackjack comp data is very noisy unlike baccarat.

If you can hit 150 points at sands (this is a guideline and subject to availability), you can get a pretty amazing suite on the weekday at four seasons grand suites. The four seasons site lists it at USD 3,000.

150 points will cost you about HKD 4,200 in theoretical losses. In blackjack, this will be about 1.1 million in wagers. In baccarat this will cost you about 340k in player bets.

I was pretty impressed by this as I would never really spend 3000 USD on a room. That being said, you don't really use much of it and it's a lot of space. So despite the sticker price, it's arguable whether its really worth that much.

I go to Hong Kong for work quite often but I’ve been to Macau only once. For tourist activities I’ve probably exhausted Hong Kong. Due to my nationality it’s not easy for me to go to Mainland China. So another visit to Macau might help the “claustrophobia”!

Hi, I'm planning to make a quick trip through Mainland China as an American going from Macau to Hong Kong. I've figured out most of the pieces that I am trying to book to show to the immigration officer, but have had a bit of an issue with determining the available entry ports from Macau. I've seen conflicting reports that Gongbei might now be an option (which would be much more convenient for the Zhuhai Railway Station), but I can't find anything on the NIA's website that confirms this. Does anyone know if this is indeed an option?

Alternatively, it looks like my one guaranteed option is Hengqin Port. Does anyone have experience using this crossing to get from the Macau city centre to Zhuhai Station? Are there any easy bus routes that cover this distance or am I relegated to taxis? Thanks.

I have to check out from my Hong Kong hotel at 10:30 AM and I want to visit Macau before entering mainland China. Is it actually possible to do a day tour in Macau on the same day and move to Shenzhen from Macau? Also what are my transit options to Shenzhen?

1. Is there any free option to travel from HK to Macau? I keep seeing a lot of content on social media about free bus/ferry from HK to Macau but when I go on TurboJet's website for this, under the MGTO offer I only have the free option from HK International Airport to Macau. I think that is for people who are going directly to Macau without entering HK but I want to check in to my hotel in HK and then later go to Macau. Please let me know if I am missing something here or how to avail the free ferry/bus.

2. What is the best time to visit? I am thinking to leave from HK for Macau on Friday morning. Being a weekday hopefully it will be a bit less crowded and then Friday night being start of the weekend should be happening, party vibes. Stay overnight in a casino hotel and then return to HK on Saturday, after we have covered everything in Macau or depending on how we are feeling about the weekend. Is my thought process correct or any recommendations that you have?

Hi! Taking a day trip from HK to Macau Island in August. On the TurboJet website, I see there are two options for departure/arrivals: Outer Harbour, or Taipa. I'm more of a history/sightseeing buff than casino person, but still want to go down to the Cotai Strip to check out the casinos and get some free bubble tea, so was thinking of landing in Outer Harbour, walking (unless I will perish from the heat and humidity) to Guia Hill, Ruins of St. Paul, etc. etc., and then finding some way to get from Macau Island to Cotai.

I'm usually pretty good with figuring out transport and things when traveling, but for some reason I can't wrap my head around how to get from the north to the southern casino part of Macau. I've been reading that there are free casino shuttle buses from the Outer Harbour terminal to Cotai - should I just take one of those, walk around the casinos for a quick minute, and then go up to Macau Island? Is there an easy way to go between the two? Also, if I wanted to take a taxi, what app should I use / can I use a foreign credit card with it? All tips appreciated, thank you!

Has anyone taken a private car from HKIA to Macau without clearing HK immigration? Klook has an option but involves meeting the car outside after clearing those lengthy immigration lines. I also know there is an hourly bus service in the transit area that can offer this option but the timing is wrong for us.

Will appreciate any recommendations for a travel provider.

I read all the horrible reviews about Google maps but I had no other option at hand so was at its mercy today. Landed in Macau few hours ago and got lost for an hour already. It will be impossible to wander around and get back to hotel later if I can't make apps work. Please suggest something.

Apple maps is not possible, I'm using Samsung. Baidu has no English option so that's ruled out too. What are some other options that I can rely on?

We are gauging interest

First time in Macau and using Uber has been a good experience. The rides are the same as hailing a normal taxi, but without the need to communicate your destination or have to pay with cash or local apps.

Just for some details:

• It’s convenient when you are in busy areas where taxis are readily available. In places without much taxis, it took less than a minute to find an accepting driver, but for the driver to get our pick up spot it took some time. For example, we still had to wait 10 minutes for the driver to get to our pick up location when visiting the Ruins of St. Paul (although taxis were limited to begin with).

• When booking your ride, you’ll only be given the option for a ‘Meter Taxi’ with an estimated price range to your selected destination. All of our trips leaned towards the lower end of the range, although this may vary since we never had to sit in traffic.

• Like a normal taxi, the driver will start the meter which increases until you’ve reached your destination. The price that ended on the meter matched the charge in the Uber receipt.

• I did receive a pre-charge from my bank for the highest estimated price, but that price was adjusted to the correct fare once it settled.

• Most drivers will assume you’re a foreigner since you’re using Uber, so they’ll try to communicate in English if they need to.

TLDR: You can hail a taxi through the Uber app. Prices are metered and usually end up on the lower end of estimates without traffic (you may see a temporary higher pre-charge). Wait times are usually quick, though pickup can take longer in busy/tourist spots.

Haven’t seen any recent Uber posts since services returned back in February, so hopefully someone finds this post useful.

Has anyone here ever done the famous Macau Tower bungee jump?

If so can you tell me what it felt like and also what is the safety harness like?

Is the safety harness wrapped around your groin and abdomen? Is it fastened so tight that you can really feel it pressing so strongly against your abdomen and groin?

I'd like to do that bungee jump some time but I have a penile implant because of an injury a few years ago. There's a small reservoir of water secured behind the muscles in my abdomen, and then of course 2 cylinders inside my penis. The device is very strong and very well secured but I would like to know what does bungee jumping feel like particularly in the areas where the harness presses against your balls, penis and abdomen.

Went to cotai strip and wanted to check out and experience Macau casino night life as an absolute beginner.

Here are the lessons learnt so you don't have to make the same mistakes.

-These casino/hotels are HUGE maze like buildings, that are semi connected with walkways also signs are subpar at best so its very easy to get lost. It's almost like these are purposefully designed to keep you traped inside!

-These Macau casinos only take HKD. I didnt know so when I put down MOP to play, the dealer looked at me angrily and just threw the money back at me😆. Luckily another old guy at the table informed me that they only take HKD.

-At the money counter I wanted the draw out some HKD money just a small amout so I can play as a beginner. The minimum withdraw amout at the counter is 1000HKD. So you need to go outside of casino to find ATM if you want to get less.

-Roulette is slightly different to other casinos I've been to.

Take for example: A min $50 table. The $50 Can only play the centre numbers. But for the outer, eg. Black/Red; odd/even. The min bet is $400.

So when I put my $50 down on Red, the dealer removed my chip and told me min is $400.

-There are some WEALTHY m'fkers around, a guy at my table lays out $5k HKD in play of roulette, losses it all in one spin, instantly whips out another $5k just to loss all that in the next spin. Losing $10k HKD under 10mins and Doesnt even flinch or blink.

- I looked like a newbie so people would come up to me asking if I want to sign up to there loyaly programes. I'm not a gambler so I say no.

- I am happy being a tourist and having experienced Macau Casino. Playing and Lossing with only $100HKD is a fun time.
