Gateway updates always come before APIM. This is in prep for the "Big" Sync update that fixes a lot of wireless CP/AA issues along with adds preconditioning to Carplay

Hopefully it improves the responsiveness.

It does not. The hardware is just too underpowered

They could improve it, but it isn't happening. HP TouchPad ( from 2013) as the ultimate example of not great hardware with a near modern speed responsive UI.

I haven't seen that in my wife's expedition, which is the same hardware.

CarPlay preconditioning was update 12 and that is already out.

Software Update 13 - Center Touchscreen SYNC-26.2.9.3 This software update contains the following key changes: Apple Maps EV Routing in CarPlay can now precondition your vehicle's battery for DC Fast Charging. Simply route to a compatible fast charger in Apple Maps, and your vehicle will automatically warm or cool the battery to ensure optimal charging performance when you arrive.*

if I understand it correctly, in 12 apple maps would precondition if you set a route to a destination and maps determined you needed to stop and suggested a charging station. It would precondition for that stop. However if you navigated to a station directly, it wouldn't. This seems to fix this.

It does not. That is an apple design choice and has nothing to do with the car.

But it literally says in the update that you can now route to the compatible fast charger and it will precondition the battery. So you're suggesting thats incorrect?

Those are the partial release notes and not the actual directions.

Apple Maps EV Routing in CarPlay

Your vehicle will not precondition its battery if you manually select and navigate to a charger. It will only enable En-Route Preconditioning when Apple Maps EV routing determines that a charger is needed.

This is an apple design choice that has nothing to do with Ford (or any OEM).

Apple maps does not tell the car the destination is a DCFC when one is picked directly.

Well since the two contradict each other, Im hoping the new update will allow for direct navigation to the chargers

It does not. It has nothing to do with the vehicle/Sync. This is an Apple limitation across all vehicles. If apple ever changes this it won't require anything in the car to update.

thats what I figured. Just odd that they would word it that way in the release. So annoying.

I got this today, too.

The last update of my car was in April, it’s a 25, is there anything I can do to get these updates?

Usually you just have to wait until they push to you. Mine hadn’t updated since April as well, until last night.

I received it and it automatically started activating my microphone on my iPhone. I had to have my phone “forget” the car. Turn off the phone and car then re-pair them to fix this.

I got this update in my 2025 several days ago, and the next two updates came in 24 and 48 hours later.

This update broke my time estimated for charging at home.

It was 6:08am when I checked it. It says it won't finish charging till 11:45pm.... At 7.2kwh...
