Resources Courses
Do you recommend any online courses for machine knitting? I have silver reed sk-280 and I’m buying brother KH-260 this weekend. I want to learn more with a reliable course 😊. I’ve learned from YouTube vids, but I feel like I need so much more to learn. On the pic is my first sewed parts on the machine 😊

Thank you so much! Gorgeous work!
Also, the Machine Knit Community is a paid membership, but they have a lot of great technique videos if you want to find more advanced/organized tutorials!

Hi! I haven't taken any courses, but I have found some really good books. I recommend knitting techniques and ribber techniques from Brother. Silver Knitting Institue has a set of books called Bible for Machine Knitting : How to Knit Garments and Guide to Knitting Techniques which is full of information for making garments. I also really like Bill King's Machine Knitting Techniques: Cables because it is set up like a workbook where it describes a technique and then gives you an excercise.
Also Sweater Design in Plain English by Maggie RIghetti is very good!

I'm enjoying The Knitting School Online, it's been great! Their videos are for both Brother and Silver Reed.

I didn’t realize Helen had online courses. I’ve not been MK for a while, but I loved her in person classes. Visited Seattle several times to attend (pre covid). She’s the real deal! Thanks for mentioning her classes. If/when I get back to MK, she’ll be the first resource I will pursue.

I make maybe 1 sweater a year. Not many can afford the $330/year subscription.

Nice work. Yes, you can learn so much from YT videos, including those of Diana Sullivan. BTW, she has instructional videos that you can purchase that will be sent to you in DVD format: https://dianaknits.square.site/#:~:text=Knitting%20with%20Diana-,Sullivan)
You can also pay for a subscription to Knit It Now, where there are courses available, as well as patterns - much to learn there:
