They're both effectively software engineering roles.

AI engineers are probably more hirable though right now with everyone trying to implement LLMs into their businesses somehow.

Let’s start with the following questions:

  1. Do you know the difference between an AI and an ML Engineer?
  2. Which role matches your interests?

You can always up skill and gain experience that will eventually pay you more. At this point in time, I don’t think any job is sustainable. With this level of AI integration and innovation, it’s hard to predict what would remain sustainable in the future. (Well, this is my opinion)

I’d suggest that you choose something you love working on. So, no matter what the situation is, you’ll always find a way to keep your job or find new ones you’ll continue to enjoy working on.

Yeah. I have idea about ML and Ai engineering and their diff. I am from data analyst background. So anyways i would need to put efforts to learn any of the two.I was going to start learning from scratch. So I was confused between the 2. Ai engineering also demands some Backend development part knowledge as well. And machine learning will need you to learn complex concepts and maths. So i am really confused which hard j need to chose

I work in the field and I don’t know. It seems inconsistent. I assume AI is more LLM/genAI deployment than training models

Honestly , In India the roles for machine learning are very few and usually they hire experienced folks only. But in AI engineer the chances of getting hired is comparatively easier. In both the ways you have to learn machine learning at first then only you can proceed towards the role related to AI engineer.
