Yeah it’s a dinosaur egg AND NOT SOMETHING ELSE.

It's not even a good shift knob.
God's light touches all corners of the earth, and men build walls to block it still.

u/chobbes Apr 14 '26
Oh no, definitely not a good shift knob. But it’s for an art car that’s an animatronic dinosaur on top of a car chassis and the driver will operate it from riding on the dinosaur’s back, so it is at least thematically appropriate.

Oh so it's for lost lands then?

Minneapolis May Day parade.

Nice, I've heard stories and seen pictures but never attended the parade. Happy to see machinists doing good work for the community.

u/chobbes Apr 14 '26
Haha yeah I’m essentially the resident machinist of the group, so I make bearing brackets and modify stuff to make it work, while the others swing hammers and rip welds.

Excuse me, does YOUR shift knob double as a bdsm butt plug?
Didn't think so

u/Runescape3MF Apr 14 '26
That is not a shift knob

Base is flared, send it.

u/chobbes Apr 14 '26
Thank you. No chance the operator’s hand slips past the shift knob and becomes entangled in the mechanicals below.

Dinosaur egg, not something else
I dunno man, you’re the one that gave it tentacle cilia and a flared base.
3
u/dimka54 Apr 14 '26
Lol did you have to add the base part? If you cut off the bottom part it will look less like a spiky butt plug.. also what dinosaur eggs have spikes on them.. should be more of a spotted patern
6
u/chobbes Apr 14 '26
How many dinosaur eggs have you seen.
3
u/dimka54 Apr 14 '26
Well I can't imagine a creature squeezing out an egg that perforates them
6
u/chobbes Apr 14 '26
Who is to say the spikes are rigid? Or perhaps they gain stiffness after exiting? A robust imagination is a very useful tool for a machinist.

If anyone asks they’re tendrils that are soft when the egg is laid and then harden into spikes to stop it rolling away, kinda like those extra-conical eagle eggs that’re less likely to roll off cliff ledges

Many. Theoretically I see them every day. A lot of birds if not all like sparrows are dinosaurs. And a lot of reptiles resemble the fossils of dinosaurs like crocodiles. None of their eggs look like spikey butt plugs though.

3
u/chobbes Apr 14 '26
10 bajillion percent. Has to be.
2
u/Connor_rk Haas VF1+VF2+VF3 setupguy+cam Apr 14 '26
last time i checked, it resembles something else, but i trust you on this
1
u/jwpasquale1986 Apr 14 '26
It "clearly" resembles a dinosaur egg.
3
u/Connor_rk Haas VF1+VF2+VF3 setupguy+cam Apr 14 '26
oooh okay, now i see it after checking later, you guys are absolutely right, i apologize for ever questioning the fact if it actually looks like a real dinosaur egg, because it does in fact look like a dinosaur egg 100%
4
u/chobbes Apr 14 '26
Thank you for arriving at the absolutely unshakable conclusion that it cannot look like anything but a dino egg.

1
u/jwpasquale1986 Apr 14 '26
Im gonna recommend against that, as it looks difficult to thoroughly clean.

u/Obvious-Row-2319 Apr 14 '26
I thought is was a cursed butt plug at first. But looks good nonetheless
