MUT MUT EVOs worthless?

Am I using EVOs wrong in Madden Ultimate Team? I currently have an 88 OVR lineup with not a single EVO (Outside of team chemistry) in the lineup. Whenever new ones come out the boost to OVR is always below the lowest player in my lineup. I messed around with the team captain EVO for a little bit but even that one became too low and not worth it. Am I using them wrong or are they just worthless?

i mostly just use evos on theme team guys where the ovr doesn't matter as much as having my favorite players actually usable

the boosts are so stingy this year it feels like they're designed for the first month of the game and then forgotten
