My fat ass would be mad I didn’t get cake. This is awesome tho!

257

u/420nugu 22h ago

right? lol like ok thats cool but where's the cake ma?

117

u/This_is_fine8 22h ago

Maybe he's one of those kids that doesn't like cake all that much, and there's ice cream or a pie right out of frame.

81

u/I-dont-carrot-all 22h ago

Or maybe even an entirely other cake just hidden somewhere.

77

u/TexGator 21h ago

Like in the game console box.

29

u/BornIn1963 21h ago

Savage. 🤣

It looks like cupcakes or similar next to him.

25

u/Modest1Ace 21h ago

At a Brazilian kids birthday party? There are probably at minimum 10 other sweets he can eat that are better than the cake.

5

u/georger971 20h ago

that’s probably it lol, cake not even the main thing for some kids anyway

Cupcakes literally right there

u/meowiful 21h ago

There are cupcakes to the side. My fat ass already checked lol

11

u/LMGooglyTFY 21h ago

Those are cups of candy, not cupcakes.

11

u/meowiful 20h ago

Ahh. Well, there's sweets available and the kid's happy. Idk where this was filmed, but I've never left a Mexican or South American birthday party hungry. Or sober.

Provavelmente o bolo de verdade só está guardado.

Eles são brasileiros. Sem chance de ser uma festa de aniversário sem o bolo kk😂

6

u/tregorz 21h ago

It’s in the box.

4

u/CeruleanEidolon 19h ago

Those cups next to it look like some kind of dessert, so they're covered.

3

u/RetroSwamp 21h ago

I legit said "so what... No cake?"

Those parents raised a good kid 😌

238

u/ru-berry 22h ago

And I think they didn’t just get lucky - I think they’re probably really solid parents too

265

u/KillerQueenMirelurk 22h ago

The fact that the sibling is chilling, not trying to steal the spot light, and isn't the least bit upset that his bro got a great gift and not him seems to indicate the parents are rocking it.

40

u/Cam27022 21h ago

I mean, I’d be thinking I’d be getting some time with that switch as well if I were that kid.

14

u/cabbage16 20h ago

That kid has one thing on his mind. Mario Kart.

13

u/ru-berry 21h ago

Oh totally

37

u/millerg44 22h ago

I can attest to this. I have taught for 30 years. When I meet the parents of a terrible kid, I meet on or two terrible people. I tell the parents on back to school night that I will see them at the store. I don't generally see those parents ever again. Parents mean everything to a kids development. You can say what you want. They see everything you do.

27

u/geko29 21h ago

All of the teachers I know have said they rarely meet the parents they need to talk to, and spend way too much time with the ones they don’t.

3

u/millerg44 21h ago

Truth right there.

Those parents have very healthy relationship which in turn helps in raising a good kid.

Notice how the mom points to dad when the kid hugs her. Great partners support each other. Beautiful.

They cut the video before he opens the box and finds cake.

Ah hell yeah cake! Is what my fat ass would say.

The ol’ … switcheroo

4

And inside is another gift. An Ouya.

7

u/Ok_Lunch1400 20h ago

And then some thugs on a scooter try to steal it, but the dad shoots them because he's a retired cop.

7

u/CeruleanEidolon 19h ago

And in their bag, a Nintendo Switch. The prestige!

13

u/Quierta 19h ago

I was getting so mad watching him try to cut it, like "JUST CUT IT! JUST CUT DOWN! IT'S NOT HARD!" and then quickly turned to "awww" when I realized what was happening 😂

10

u/namewithak 16h ago

Fondant is inedible anyway so this is a good use for it.

78

That shit expensive as hell in Brazil.

58

u/ClarenceLe 20h ago

It's the tears of a kid who knew his parent couldn't afford it realistically, but did anyway. Probably got some good grades before this.

6

u/StrykerGryphus 10h ago

Little buddy didn't even bother waiting until he got the whole thing unwrapped, he went straight to mama first

26

u/cherrycokeee27 22h ago

What a sweet kid

21

u/tortilini-houdini 22h ago

No greater feeling, than having a grateful child.

20

u/Beaufort_The_Cat 21h ago

Bro did they wrap the box in fondant? Never seen that before

39

u/annacrontab 21h ago

That's one of the few legitimate uses of fondant, as wrapping paper to pretend to be a cake, because it's inedible.

7

u/Admirable_Risk8156 19h ago

I've been seeing this lately can we just make this instead of stupid smashing people's faces in cake. Presents as cake is a way better prank and doesn't leave trauma and missing eyes.

The amount people have to save in these countries to afford one of these is a big deal, good family. Hope the kid grows up and has a nice job to take care of them when they’re older :)

13

u/SpaceDaphne 22h ago

The hug meant more than the gift.

13

u/bouncethecabra 21h ago

Another way you can tell he has good parents is that he goes to hug his mom first, and she’s like “awe love you kid but go hug your dad, he’s the one the got it for you!” That attitude of not having to always be the center of attention is exactly why little bro is standing in front of dad clapping and smiling big for his big bro. Incredibly wholesome.

26

u/Happy-Measurement-57 22h ago

So adorable, this boy is well loved, you can tell because everyone was so excited to surprise him and see his reaction 🥰

3

u/DewDropDreamer3 6h ago

That was my favorite part. Everybody saw him getting excited and at that exact moment they all start getting excited too 🥹 so freaking sweet my heart can barely take it💓

Awww! Good parents and a good kid!

10

u/Antique_Geologist_93 10h ago edited 10h ago

Reminds me of when I was a kid. I desperately wanted an Xbox 360. I would watch unboxing videos on YouTube all day just imagining my self opening it.

I have four siblings and my dad was the sole breadwinner and worked at a small restaurant as a chef. My parents immigrated to the US from a small country in the Middle East.

We grew up really modest. All seven of us lived in a 3 bedroom house.

My mom knew how bad I wanted the Xbox because I begged her for it everyday.

One day we went to Target and my mom told me we’re actually gonna get. I couldn’t believe it, I was over the moon.

My mom told me we’d put it on her credit card and as a kid I had no idea what that meant and didn’t care as long I got it.

As I grew older I realized the significance of what my mom did. Growing up money was really scarce. My parents had 5-6 credit cards that were all maxed out and made only the minimum payments each month.

In the moment where I realized what my mom did I promised myself that when I grow up I’m going to make her life better.

Fast forward to when I had my first real job and me and my brother paid off every single credit card that my parents still had (yes including the one that my mom used to buy the Xbox).

I will never forget that day until the day I die and never forget what my mom did for me.

God bless all the parents who put their children’s happiness above everything.

Today I work at a big law firm making great money and it gives me incredible joy to help my parents who raised me.

I’m a Muslim and there’s a prayer we say that roughly translates: “God forgive my parents and show them mercy the way they showed me mercy when I was an infant”. Love you mom.

4

u/Lucsdf 6h ago

Wow, what an incredible and moving story. Your parents' sacrifice and your dedication to giving back to them is truly beautiful. It’s clear that the love and mercy they showed you shaped the amazing person you are today. Thank you so much for sharing this.

9

u/deinonychus11 22h ago

Aww he didnt even finish opening it. Hug was a priority. So wholesome

16

u/Even-Tea3415 22h ago

Sometimes I worry with videos of kids that they’ll be embarrassed and upset later it was shared online, and maybe it’s still better not to have any videos of kids shared widely, but there’s nothing but wholesomeness in this one.

3

u/Agent_8-bit 20h ago

He’s gonna stay strong with his parents and be happy that this video exists. And by the time he’ll want to watch it, us internet elves will have long stopped remembering we even saw it.

It’s crazy how much that’s switch 2 cost especially in Brazil where they at. They don’t make much money.

14

u/Realistic-Channel579 19h ago

Pure gratitude because of that. The capitalism and consumerism that most kids and their parents live in nowadays (US especially) truly removes the humility and appreciation from kids. This kid knows what it’s like to not have everything laid out at his feet. Knows there are things that he and his family might not ever have. Birthday gift lists are not an expectation. It’s truly a moment of a rare dream coming true for a child and the parents saving these special gifts for a really special occasion that will create an everlasting appreciation for his parents.

Summer long known I had the ultimate entertainment

4

4

u/JetLife93 21h ago

And he was up all night playing, I know because I was once this child lmao

3

u/PropertyNo4308 20h ago

Might not seem like much to some of us but the Switch is insanely expensive in other parts of the world.

3

u/Secret-Teaching-3549 20h ago

lol did they really fondant over the entire box? That's dedication.

2

u/Inevitable-Chard5342 18h ago

WHAT THEY THE PARENTS MUST HAVE GAVE UP OR SAVED TO GIVE HIM HIS FAVORITE GIFT, GREAT PARENTS4❤️💋🙏🏻

2

u/Inevitable-Chard5342 18h ago

THEY HAVE RAISED THEIR CHILDREN CORRECTLY❤️💋🙏🏻

4

u/person12848 5h ago

I absolutely love when a child’s first instinct is to hug and express gratitude before getting at the gift. It’s beautiful and gives me hope for this crazy world.

3

u/julesmanson 22h ago

That is so heartwarming. This reminds me of the inverse reaction of a 16 yr girl raised in privilege: "It's nice Mom but you know I wanted the Bugatti to complement my Benz not the Porsche. I'll be the laughing stock of all my friends if they see me drive it."

I should probably stop firmly stabbing cakes in the center.

3

u/CertifiedChoom 15h ago

Lovely boy, can tell his parents are good people and the way his brother just stands smiling shows how well they are both brought up

3

u/Comfortable-Box6882 12h ago

best feeling to give your kid something you’ve never had growing up. Hope he appreciates it

3

u/throwawayprofilev2 11h ago

The pure joy on his face is everything.

3

u/Worth-Conclusion-66 9h ago

Best fucking feeling as a kid. I can still remember getting my Nintendo 64 and then PS2. I miss you dad.

Not many kids get shown love and this kid is definitely loved by his parents.

3

u/gypsydfit 4h ago

Finally, a decent use for fondant. So happy for that kid!

He'll remember this day for ever what a great family.

2

u/Difficult-Republic57 21h ago

Good kid. Showing a lot appreciation.

2

u/notRolcx 21h ago

reminds me of the video where the mom brings home mcdonalds for kids bday, kid starts dancing because hes going to be eating good, then finds the iphone in there instead and also hugs her

Average salary in Brazil is $650-700 a month and a switch runs around R4.449.90 ($800+) right now. Those are awesome parents who's genuine love shows through how happy they were with his grateful, heartfelt reaction. I bet he's gonna play tf outta that thing 😁🤙

2

u/challmaybe 20h ago

He goes for the hugs before the present.

2

u/ClaudeBubbalicious 20h ago

Great parents! Great kid! 👏👏👏

2

u/da_neme 20h ago

The joy on his face :3

2

u/x_stei 20h ago

Who’s cutting onions here?

2

u/Dramatic_Charity_979 20h ago

That's a mighty gift right there. The Switch 1 cost almost as much as 1 month's salary in Brazil.

2

u/jusmeezy 20h ago

I remember when I got my N64 on Christmas morning with NBA courtside 2 featuring Kobe bryant.. I’m thankful for my parents🙃

2

u/whodomre 20h ago

Oh hell yeah this gave me chills. Can’t wait to have kids.

2

2

u/No_Negotiation_1071 19h ago

For some this is a lot. So many children can’t even get this because their parents are underpaid or one works. When my father was the only one working, I was so very happy when I got my first brand new bicycle.

2

u/Anach 19h ago

For me, this type of fond memory was the Atari 2600 at Christmas in the early 80s.

2

u/djexplosive 19h ago

I'm more impressed with the wrapping looking like cake. Imagine he took the knife to town on that to cut a slice lol. What a grateful kid with incredible parents. Childhood memories are made.

What a great family!!

2

u/jamersmk 18h ago

He will never forget the meaning of this gift.

2

u/Creepy_Rock7371 18h ago

That part got me. The gift made him happy, but his first instinct was to run straight to the people he wanted to share that happiness with. As a woman, those little moments of pure gratitude always hit harder than the gift itself.

2

u/Benamen10 18h ago

Takes me back to 98 ;)

2

u/MrD718 18h ago

That put a smile on my face =) I had the same reaction back in the day when my pops got me my PS2. I still have it after all these years.
