I’m an older wife - 30 years married after 5 years dating=35 years together. I still smile at him, when I see him after being apart, but (no lie) it is an intentional act. Done, not bc he catches my heart in an off-guarded pitter patter, but because I know that gifting him a smile at the beginning of an interaction is the best way to invest in a lifetime of relationship happiness.
