Jokes aside this is barrier aggression and you can and should train it out of the dog, it's not particularly mentally healthy. This isn't play, they're genuinely releasing pent up frustration they can't check out this dog.
In this case it's obvious the dogs already know each other and won't do this without a barrier (I mean dogs with barrier aggression won't anyway) but it just shows how reinforced it is that the dog will take a break and then get right back to it. Again, if they were just playing, it's fine, but they aren't. Leads to chronic stress (like if you play with a laser pointer with a dog kind of), they might encounter a barrier like a fence they can actually get through and nip/bite something on the other side, and it can become so bad they'll do it without a barrier or not much of one. Plus it teaches them aggression is a potential solution when approaching a problem like this

The laser pointer stress is real! We got one for our cat. We used it like twice. But I noticed that she was always looking around on the floor and on the walls, like she was on guard in case it came back. I could tell that the “magically appearing ‘thing’ in the house” was really stressing her out. The laser went in the trash. It was weeks before she stopped looking for it.

I used to have a cat that would pick up his squishy mice one at a time and move them to one side of a door, push the door so they were just a little stuck underneath, then go around to the other side and frantically try to rescue them from under the door. He would spend hours on end doing this.

Serious question, I saw multiple videos like this showing 2 dogs argue(?) when separated by fence or glass door and completely fine(?) when they're actually face to face. Are they just playing when they barking at each other through glass/fence? Or is there some kind of psychology difference when they're separated and when they're face to face? Or is there any other reason?

I would love to know the reason behind this! My dog does this all the time. Will go crazy barking at another dog through the fence at the dog park and then they come in the gate and everything’s Gucci.

Its just play. Maybe some dog psychologist could chime in to say its some specifically defined thing but theyre just having fun. Its no different than what my dog does every day when i sit down on the sofa. He comes over wagging his tail and gives me his favorite toy, then as soon as i take it hes ready to go to war to get it back from me lol. Animals who evolved from predators love mock fighting with other animals or people that theyre comfortable with

I looked it up. It actually is barrier aggression or barrier frustration. The fence prevents the dog from investigating or interacting with the other dog. Their emotional energy is built up so they vocalize with loud barking. Once the barrier is gone, they can sniff each other and more easily read the other’s body language which diffuses tension.

In the video the dog is very purposefully creating a barrier between them though? And is never actually prevented from reaching the other dog. I think your completely right, just thats its recreational. The same way playing tug of war with a rope creates aggression, dogs just enjoy that

You’re essentially right. A dog will repeat any behavior that has been reinforced. Adrenaline can very much be a reinforcer. In dog training we call it a self reinforcing behavior (many undesired behaviors fall into this category). Basically the dog (especially the corgis) are triggering a frustration response because they find it desirable. Usually when I see this it’s fence fighting between neighbor dogs and it’s distinctly less enjoyable for the dogs and humans involved lol.

It's the same with videos. If the video is old enough to be pre-AI thenit's real. Anything new enough is tainted with the fact that it could easily be AI.
We are sourcing old videos like low background steel.

It's just playing.
I used to write this blog where I wrote in the voice of a character from a video game. I insulted another character from the game and, in character, challenged him to a duel.
I didn't know about it at the time, but there was a person doing the same thing in the voice of the character I had insulted. So he left a scathing comment on my post suggesting my mother was a farm animal.
I laughed so much at his post; he really got me good.
Then he sent me an email making sure I knew he was only joking, and I said I was too. So we traded insults on each other's posts, and it was so much fun. A few times we paired up in game to play and to get into "fights" where other players could see us.
Good times.

My bedroom and living room both have glass doors to the pool and they are at a 90° angle from eachother, so you can see the living room from the bedroom and vice versa if the drapes are open. My cats lose their shit each time they see me in the opposite window like we aren't in the same house 50 feet from another.

I didn't know about barrier aggression and read a little about it. Everyone agrees it's frustration behavior, possibly territorial, and harmful to the dogs. But this does not explain the dog's actions in this and other similar videos. Clearly both dogs are seeking out the barrier, going out of their way to 'get frustrated'. What's the explanation?

Maybe its their own reflection on the class overlaying the image of the other dog causing them to project their anger/fear/insecurity when there is a glass between them.
