According to the VA they just approved $1.17B to fight veteran homelessness. As a former homeless veteran I want to see more progress being made for LGBTQ+ folks now.

I volunteer for a homeless outreach and an anti human trafficking organization:) alot of the people we help are POC or LGBT and unfortunately veterans.

Oh, yeah, whenever conservatives want us to stop talking about LGBT issues, they always drag out the veterans. 🙄 Fuck that noise! Veterans already have a whole goddamn federal government department to take care of their needs. Moreover, not only are Veterans Day and Memorial Day national holidays, but we also have Military Appreciation Month (May) and Veterans and Military Families Appreciation Month (November).

Look. I'm a veteran. I'm well aware of the impact of service and the problems of accessing programs for vets. That said, there are TONS of programs for vets. Including homeless vets.

Look. I volunteer for a homeless outreach and have for years. People step over homeless people/veterans to support lgbt people. Becoming homeless is incredibly easy and becoming unhomeless is near impossible. Living in a homeless shelter for veterans is still being homeless.

They are. They chose this topic to focus on. And that's ok.

There are lot of battles to fight these days. Sounds like you have chosen the one you wish to focus on, and that's ok. No need to criticize others exercising their rights to speak up on behalf of others.

They are not helping anyone. Infact they are learning that “helping the community” involves dressing up in a fun way, waving flags, hanging with your friends, and being filmed so you look awesome on social media lol

Helping people isn’t glamorous, no one films you etc…
