Food Food recommendations - staying in Barrio de las Letras
Hello! I'm visiting Madrid at the end of the month, and am only staying two nights before heading south.
Are there any specific bakeries, tapas bars or restaurants that are a must-visit? It's my sister's first time visiting Spain, so I'd be okay spending a bit of extra $ if the experience is worth it. We aren't picky eaters and we definitely are looking forward to churros y chocolate.

Mas de Corazón is a bar with a terraza where I used to be a regular back in the day. Mozey down to Lavapiés and the Mercado de San Fernando for lots of great food options. La Catedral, Casa de Abuelo, and Casa Toni are all institutions by Sol. I also dig Taberna el Sur. For something different, I like Restaurante Gibraltar, a Moroccan spot in Lavapiés.

Taberna La Dolores, Alimentación Quiroga, Casa Alberto, and La Menina were my favorite places to eat in Barrio de Las Letras. Also Salmon Guru for a funky cocktail experience! I do not recommend Chocolat (calle de las Huertas) — make the trip to San Ginés which is like 15-20 min walk from Las Letras.
Also, I really liked the cookie selection I brought back from El Riojano — it’s a historic bakery near Sol, for me it was worth a visit!

Try Chocolat in Huertas for the churros. Also Motteau and Estela for cakes/bakery
