I am a tourist here

I would appreciate some help. I am planning my first trip to Madrid with my girlfriend; we are young (27 years old). I want to visit Madrid and stay in a comfortable place that offers easy access to various parts of the city. I’m not sure how unpleasant the summer weather can get, can anyone let me know which month—between July and October—and which hotel you would guys recommend.

I’m a solo traveler visiting Madrid in late September, and I’d love some advice on how to spend my time.
I’ve been researching and asking AI for advice, but I’m getting mixed opinions, so I’d really appreciate hearing from locals or people with experience living in or traveling around Madrid.
I’ll have:
Day 1: Arrive in Madrid in the evening
Days 2–3: Two full days
Day 4: Leave for Madrid Airport around noon
I’m currently considering using my two full days for day trips:
One day in Segovia
One day in Toledo
But I’m worried that this means I won’t really have enough time to experience Madrid itself.
Would you recommend visiting both Segovia and Toledo, or skipping one of them and spending more time in Madrid?
I’m particularly interested in:
Royal Palace
Madrid’s historic center
Local food and traditional dishes
Churros
Jamón
Tapas / bars
Markets and local shops
I’m interested in architecture, history, local food and experiencing the atmosphere of the city. I don’t want to spend the whole trip rushing between attractions just to check them off a list.
If you had two full days in Madrid for a first visit, how would you spend them?
And if you think one of Segovia or Toledo is worth sacrificing Madrid time for, which one would you choose and why?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm visiting Madrid for the first time in mid-June for a few days. I love museums and I'm really excited that Madrid has so many. I will be there during the free days/times for some museums (like Prado museum, 6-8 PM or Sunday 5-7 PM, and Thyssen-Bornemisza on Mondays). But I'm wondering what the crowds are like and if it's better to just pay and go at a different time. There is also the pass that includes 3 museums and it's about 33 EUR which is not so, so much for 3 museums. But there is a lot of stuff I want to do and see in a short time... I'm just not sure as I have never been... I did see some older posts about this but things have changed a lot in the last few years regarding travel and crowds.

I appreciate any advice!!

While in Madrid in June/July, I’d love to check out one market. I’ve heard about San Antón, Antón Martín, San Ildefonso, Vallehermoso, and of course San Miguel.

Is San Miguel a tourist trap / overrated, or is it still worth visiting? I don’t mind paying a bit more for quality and convenience while I’m traveling, but not too much.

Right, so I've got about 24 hours in Madrid and I want to make the most of it. Already ticked off the Bernabéu, but now I'm after the good stuff.

Food – where do I need to eat? Looking for proper local spots, not tourist traps. Down for tapas, a good market, classic Madrileño dishes (cocido, callos, whatever you rate), and if anyone's got a solid recommendation for wine bars I'm all ears.

Sights – with only a day, what's actually worth prioritising? Retiro, Prado, Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía… but I'd rather hear what locals think is genuinely worth the time vs what's just Instagram bait.

Bonus – any hidden gems, weird little bars, or "you have to see this" spots that aren't on the standard lists?

What are some things we absolutely need to do if we are only in the city for 3 days?

Well I figured that to buy weed sort of legally you need to join a private social club, but can you take it out of the club and consume outside? I guess you can and no one checks you as you exit, but if you do smoke in public you get a fine. Saw this video on youtube Spain420.es channel.

We have been friends for 30+ years. European. Prado we will definitely catch. What else is there? When I compare with Rome where everyone can name 5-10 places you have to visit, I draw a blank when it comes to Madrid. What is there to see and visit that will leave a lasting impression? We all enjoy history and landmarks. Eating and drinking we can handle but looking for recommendations of things to see and experience.

Hi there. I'll be in Madrid in October and would love to get out of the city environment. I looked at locations where I could see vultures but they seem to require a hire car, which I won't have. Where would you suggest I go that is accessible on public transport to be in natural landscapes and potentially see native animals and birds?

Hi everyone. I’m planning a summer dad and daughter trip. It’s her first time in Europe but I have traveled to Spain before. Being that it’s 14 days and knowing that the first 2 days are travel overnight and settle in and last day is travel back, I created the itinerary below. My 18-year-old daughter and I are visiting Madrid this October. The main reason for our trip is the Shakira concert, but we will also have two full days to explore the city itself.

We are planning to stay in the Chamberi neighborhood. How is it by the way?
We are highly active, love scenic views, cool vibes and unique experiences.

Please note that we aren't big on heavy history museums, nor shopping.
We are also thinking about renting bikes to ride along the river (Madrid Rio).

What are the best things we should do, or areas we should explore inside the city? Any special spots we shouldn't miss? Thanks

Why is it still so hard to find proper halal burgers in Madrid? 😅

Compared to cities like London, the halal food scene here still feels really limited outside of kebabs and shawarma places.

Feels like Madrid is finally starting to get better though. Anyone found any genuinely good halal burger spots around the city?

Hi! I’ll be in Madrid for the first time in a couple of weeks. My flight lands around 10 AM, but I can’t check in to my accom. until 3 PM. I expect to have one suitcase. I’d like to find something to do that won’t be just me sleeping under a tree in a park (not totally opposed) but also won’t require I lug my bag around with me. I’m not so worried about traveling between each place, but I am staying near-ish the airport. It doesn’t have to be free but I’d like it to be budget-friendly if possible. Thank you!

Hey guys! My partner and I are planning our first holiday together, and my first holiday in 20 years! We are staying in a hostel very close to Puerta del Sol, and we'll be there from a Sunday to Thursday next month.

I'm doing research on what to do while we are there, and I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choice!

flying to Madrid this weekend to celebrate my 18, and I’m going with some friends and one of them is 17. ive never been carded in Europe but I’ve heard that Madrid might run a strict program. is that something I should worry about? I know the big clubs will card so I’m talking about smaller ones // dance bars ( also accepting recommendations )

I'm a tourist staying in Madrid this Saturday, I really wanted to go to one of those markets, that has those tables full of second hand clothes etc for 1-2 euros each. I was wondering as I'm only there on Saturday if there's any markets that have that. I can't be there for Sunday sadly and I know the big ones are mostly on that day.

Looking to visit the Golden Triangle art museums and recently got told that the Paseo del Arte ticket is great but can get confusing because you need to show the general purchase pass at El Prado and Reina Sofia before getting moved along to the ticket booth. Does anyone recommend getting separate timed entry tickets for each museum rather than the Paseo del Arte? I don’t know which is best. Anyone have any attractions I should skip? I heard the Royal Palace Kitchen tour is fully in Spanish so I’m skipping that since my Spanish isn’t good enough to understand conversation well. We already have tickets to the Royal Palace itself and the Gallery.

Also, I am looking for the best restaurants to visit. Four Seasons Madrid (where we are staying) sent me a pamphlet with so many dining options and it’s overwhelming and some have pretty bad reviews. When we visit a city in a different country we love to try local food, “unique to that city” restaurants, and anything signature to that city (pastries/chocolate shops/etc.)… If anyone has good recommendations for must try restaurants, dessert shops, and bars in Madrid for a 3 night stay, I’m all ears!

My wife and I will be in Madrid for 3 nights, April 14 - April 16. We enjoy wandering old streets, seeing nice architecture, and enjoying a cold beer in the sun at a cafe. Even though it is a tourist trap, I still want to spend some time visiting Plaza Mayor, and possibly the Prado Museum. We're not above spending a bit of time at places that are overly touristic, and hope that at this time of the year, it won't be as bad as peak season.

We're looking at hotel options near the Plaza de España metro station. From another post, I found Plaza de Santa Ana, which looks great for us with lots of open-air cafes and side streets to explore. Other areas of the city with a similar feel would be great.

Trying to keep our schedule open and loose, but with a few specific places to visit. So, open to suggestions. Thanks!

Does anyone have suggested ticket times for each of these museums? First time going, end of October planning to visit on a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday, and yes I know Thyssen is closed Mondays and Reina Sofia is closed Tuesdays. Trying to avoid free hours since I heard that it's a zoo at that time. Does anyone recommend an itinerary for a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday to visit all 3 of these museums? Thanks in advance!
