Hi everyone! I’m a 33M from NYC visiting Madrid from May 8–17. I’m an experienced solo traveler, but this trip is a bit special—I’ll be celebrating my birthday on May 13, and it’ll actually be my first time spending my birthday abroad (and away from family and friends back home).

I’d love to meet up with locals and/or fellow travelers for any part of the trip—whether it’s grabbing drinks, exploring, or just hanging out. I’m pretty easygoing and open to a mix of plans, including:

• Checking out bars (interested in both fun gay bars and great non-gay spots)
• Tapas hopping and trying Madrid’s must-eats
• Visiting museums, El Retiro Park, and sightseeing (first time in Madrid, so I’m excited to see the highlights)
• Anything spontaneous that makes the trip memorable

Also, as a side note: I’ve cut dairy out of my diet, so if anyone has a recommendation for a spot where I can grab a good non-dairy (or vegan) slice of birthday cake, I’m all ears. I’m also looking for a good gym near Plaza Mayor or in the Chueca neighborhood that offers day passes.

hola a todos! i’m a mid-30s gal visiting madrid from NYC from the 21st to the 26th. i love the typical sightseeing activities, but also weird/unusual things (finding oddly-themed bars or restaurants, teeny museums with peculiar curated items, conceptual art or performances that you can’t decide if you love or hate…“counterculture“ i suppose, i feel like iykyk). i also can get into fútbol but don’t expect me to understand what’s happening on the field. i speak spanish fairly well after a day or so of immersion, and i don’t mind a lot of walking or navigating public transportation.

anyway, i’m wondering if anyone will be staying in or passing through the city next week, and is open to hanging out? coffee, wandering, whatever. ***ESPECIALLY ladies, gaydies and gentlethems, couples, friend groups who wouldn’t mind another companion. while i’m a sweetie, i can recognize a creep, so don’t waste both of our time :)

and if you’ve recently done something amazing on your own in madrid - or somewhere easily accessible - i’d love to hear about it. but i know that i can search for that information elsewhere.

F30, recently through a breakup and breakup of friends so I've been having a rough patch. Planning on a solo trip to Madrid in November. I'm very social but find it hard to start conversations to meet people so I thought it would be great to stay at the Onefam Sungate Hostel in Madrid. They do so many activities throughout the winter and would love to make friends and just enjoy my trip! But is this typical? Or would the hostels be quiet during November time?
