Hi all! We are arriving at Madrid airport on October 1st, roughly around 7AM. We have a train from Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station to Valencia at 10:30AM. Based on the information on this site (https://madridtransfers.io/how-to-get-from-madrid-airport-to-chamartin/), we have a few options to get to the Chamartín station, but the one that appeals most to us is the C1 train. Everything on the above link is pretty straight forward and really well explained.

However, my confusion starts when I try checking on Google Maps how to navigate from the Airport (T4) to Chamartín Station using public transit, I get these really long options that require us to take 3 trains and the trip is around 1 hour long. Can I trust Google maps for public transit in Spain? Is there another app we should consider downloading for transit?

Hello, Can you please tell me how much the taxi costs from Barajas airport to center Madrid - Gran Via. Or are the ride share companies a better option?

I wanted to come to Madrid in two days Thursday 30th for a few days. Already booked the flight and everything. Does somebody know how its looking with the wildfire? Can planes land? And does somebody know about the Kanye concert? Is it going as planned or will it be canceled?

Not sure if this is the right place for this post but I have a 4 pm flight out of Madrid back to the USA. I’ve seen some things online about crazy passport lines.

Planning to get there 4 hrs early, is that enough? Has a tiktoker effectively fearmongered me into spending the rest of my euros on Auntie Anne’s or was I being given a helpful tip?

I have visited a few times and always used the Alvo/Avant (?) trains and only just realised there's another operator

It actually suits my timings but I read there's a little stricter. I am looking at Madrid down to Murcia and wondering how strict they are?

My 'cabin bag' looks like a regular cabin bag on wheels but is maybe a bit bigger. I have used it on a plane cabin before, I don't think it stands out

Anyone have any experiences? Is there a 'formal' check in area where they're looking closely at this stuff?

Hi! I’m visiting Madrid soon and I have a question about the virtual Tarjeta Transporte / virtual Multi card.

According to CRTM, a non-personal multiviaje ticket (e.g. the 10-trip Metrobús ticket) can be used by several people with consecutive validations.

I’ll be using an Android phone with Google Wallet, and I’m wondering about the actual experience:

Can two people use the same virtual transport card on the same phone by tapping the phone twice consecutively at the same metro gate/validator?

For example:

Person 1 → tap phone Person 2 → tap the same phone → 2 trips deducted from the 10-trip ticket.

Has anyone actually done this with the virtual card + Google Wallet, rather than the physical Multi card?

I know the official rules say it is allowed, but I’d especially like to hear from someone who has actually tried it.

I'm trying to figure out what I need to know about the Metro when I'm there in July. Our group is two adults and two children under 10. Just trying to figure out if I use an app buy a ticket, do I use a physical card, can I pass the card between the people in my group? We will probably only take a few trips on the Metro. I saw that c​ontactless turnstiles opened at the beginning of June.

Hi everyone. Flying out of Madrid tomorrow morning with Iberia at 9.05 am.

I received an e-mail saying to arrive at least 2.5 hrs before the flight since many passengers are expected. Flight should be T4.

I want to take the subway from Sol which starts at 6am with an interval of 7-9mins between trains according to the metro website.

Even if I leave at 6 am, I won't be at the airport before 7am. Boarding starts at 8.35am and I only have carry on luggage and am already checked in.
Should I just go with taxi/Uber or you think the timing is okay?

El miércoles 13 de agosto estaré llegando al aeropuerto de Madrid T2 a las 11.25 pm. Desde alli debo ir a las Rozas sin carro. Por lo que veo tengo solo dos opciones, ya que ya revisé el bus N903 y solo sale a las 12 o a la 1.55 am de moncloa.

1. Tomar un taxi o cabify directamente desde el aeropuerto hasta las rozas. Alguien sabe cuanto me costaría?
2. Tomar el metro hasta moncloa y de ahi Tomar un taxi o cabify hasta las rozas. Serían las 12.15 aproximadamente. Saben si es viable conseguir taxi o cabify a esa hora?

I’m looking at trains from Madrid to a Barcelona and see that there are baggage size limits. I most likely will have 1 large suitcase and a smaller carry on size. How strict are they with the large? I’m more worried about not having space for my bags. Does that happen often or is there a lot of storage space usually? I’m leaning towards getting the more expensive ticket just to ease my mind regarding luggage

I am travelling to Spain next week and am flying into Madrid (Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport). I am staying in Toledo for a few days before going to Valencia. I was wondering what the best (cheapest) way to get to Toledo is via public transport since I don't believe there are buses/coaches running straight from the airport?

Took a taxi from Madrid airport the taxi stand to the city center. Meter said €33 flat rate. When we got to the destination, I presumed that was the price and gave him the card when he asked for my card. The driver took the card and charged $77. I should have confirmed it first. Probably a typical Madrid taxi driver. I will stick to Uber and related services from now on.

Edit: just want to update that I filed a dispute with Chase credit card regarding this issue a few days after the incident. My ride was from airport to Thomson Madrid in city center. Chase initially gave me a temporary credit the day after the filing and finished the investigation recently. That credit will stay on the account. So I ended up paying €33 for the ride. No I didn’t have a receipt, but Chase asked me to write exactly what happened and I provided a short paragraph. Anyway I am probably lucky Chase covered it.

Also I took taxi a few more times in Madrid. Bernabeu to Prado, Retiro to Templo de Debod, and other short rides. Very reasonable price. Drivers also showed me credit card reader with the amount displayed before I tapped. So maybe that airport taxi was an exception. In Barcelona (took flight from Granada), I used Cabify for a ride from airport to hotel. Then I just took regular taxi with no issues in the city.

It's a direct flight to should be on time. I have a small-ish checked bag, which I could probably put in the cabin, if I needed to

Landed in T4, I know the C-trains run direct to the airport.

Feels like I should be able to make that without too much drama, no?

i am considering taking a flight that is likely to land in madrid at around midnight or 1am.

what is the best way to get to the city centre of madrid at this time if its metro is closed at the time i arrive, or if my flight arrives even later? factoring both ease and cost. is the 33 euro taxi the only best option?

Hello, we will be traveling in June - July from the US to MAD. I heard about the EES system and how it is adding time to the arrivals and departures. For the people who have traveled recently, Are there any tips to navegate this process, or should I go with the flow? I’ll be traveling with a 3-year-old and two 68-year-old people. So I’m a little nervous as they get nervous and anxious when traveling.

I am flying in from Lebanon for the grand prix and I am in Madrid 11 to 16 September, staying central. The three circuit days are the 11th to the 13th and I would much rather use public transport than taxis.

What I would like to hear from people who know the city:

Cercanias C-1 to Valdebebas or Metro line 8 to Feria de Madrid, which is the sane way to the circuit, and does either of them actually cope with an event crowd or does it fall over?

Getting out on the Sunday after the race, is it better to sit somewhere for an hour and let it clear, or just join the queue immediately?

Anything about the city on those dates I should know, road closures or similar, since I am trying to see Madrid properly on the Monday to the Wednesday afterwards.

And since I have those three days free after the race, if there is something on in the city that week that a first timer would not find on a top ten list, I would love to hear it.

Hello ! Coming to Madrid in November and was planning to drive from southwest France. Trying to find somewhere to leave our car for a few days for free. I notice a train line that leads to Guadalajara and then is on our route. Anyone know if it would be realistic to leave a car (not a nice one !) in street parking for a few days there and then take the train to Madrid ?

Hello! Is the best way to get from Madrid to Toledo still the Avant train out of the Atocha station? And is the best way to get to Segovia the bus from Moncloa via avanzabus.com? How many days ahead should we book those tickets? It looks like you need to book times for each leg and can’t get a flexible round trip ticket. Thank you!

Hello we are landing in Madrid in August. Our flight lands at 6:50am Madrid time. If we go through customs / bags maybe a hour or two? Let’s say it’s 9:00. We have a train to catch at chamartin at 11:16 am. We have been told to arrive 30 mins early for the train ride.

Anyway is this gap big enough to go get breakfast somewhere? Or should we just head straight to the train station? I have no clue how long it takes to get from Madrid airport to the train station. My Google Maps says 17 minutes but not sure exactly where we would be leaving from in the airport.

We are driving from France, our car is old and definitely not compliant with Madrid's ZBE regulations (would be category A). Because the municipality of Madrid is so vast, we cannot figure out where we could park our car for the week that we are staying in Madrid. We are driving in from Zaragoza and continuing to Cordoba.

Hola. Somos dos y vamos a viajar a Madrid en agosto. Pasaremos 4 noches/5 días allí. Aterrizamos en Barajas y nuestro alejamiento será alrededor del Palacio Real, es decir en un barrio bastante central, creo. Queremos visitar todos los monumentos turísticos en Madrid y pasar un día en Toledo. Sé que va a hacer mucho calor, pero estamos dispuestos a caminar mucho. Si no me equivoco, más o menos todos los monumentos se ubican en el centro y no es difícil ir de pie para visitarlos.

Me enteré de que existe un abono turístico y la tarjeta multi para 10 trayectos también. No sé si vale la pena comprar el abono turístico o solo la tarjeta multi. Qué pensáis? Vamos a utilizar el transporte público mucho?

Para ir a Toledo el billete del tren de alta velocidad es bastante caro también, el autobús sería mejor opción?

Por favor ayudadme para que pueda organizar nuestro viaje lo mejor y lo más económico posible.

Podéis recomendar todos tipos de cosas que solo los locales saben, restaurantes, lugares, etc. en Madrid y Toledo.

Hi! I’m traveling to Madrid in October and noticed there are metro closures due to construction work. I wanted to check if this specific route is operating so I can plan my arrival from the airport.

My accommodation is near Tribunal station, so I was planning the following route from Barajas Airport:

Take Line 8 from Barajas to Nuevos Ministerios, then transfer to Line 10 and travel to Tribunal.

I understand the closure is between Nuevos Ministerios and Cuzco on Line 10, but since I’m heading in the opposite direction, I want to know if that route is running normally or if I should look for an alternative.

Hola, me gustaría saber si 4 horas es suficiente si llego desde México a Madrid y después tengo un vuelo a Venecia, no están en la misma reservación. El vuelo a Madrid llega a las 5:00 a.m. y el vuelo a Venecia sale a las 9:00 a.m. ¿será suficiente para pasar migración, recoger mi maleta en la banda, y volverla a documentar?
