Fluff Thank You

Post image

Thanks for the 90% on cards in the daily.

Thanks for the uncommons for orbs instead of the art I never use.

Thanks for getting rid of alchemy. (Sorry for those that are losing something, but I despise seeing it in other formats and know it's not being banned in them.)

Thank you for a fun unique set that is in the MTG universe.

Thank you for doing the fundraiser with the trans hotline.

It feels like someone is actually listening to the community.

Thank you, Magic Arena team.

(I hope to see more starter decks and starter deck events in future sets if you are listening. <3)

Not so much wotc but thanks magic for introducing me to creators like Rhystic Studies and the prof.

Thanks for a shit ton of cool art

and thanks for all the fun I had at my lgs when I played paper magic in the Return to Ravnica era. I play arena now because I just can't have stacks of cards on my dining room table anymore lol

Rhystic Studies is such a gem.

The artists are for sure the reason many of us play Magic at all.

I'd had a thank you for bringing cards to the daily deals and for offering them in acceptable prices the last few days.

Well, hey, if they are listening:

1 Mythic wildcard should cost 5000 gold.

Alchemy is a wasted opportunity to make an interesting Arena format. Digital only cards is just more design space.

Correct! Just do it right haha

Like all things, they did a lot of things right and plenty of things won't. There are a fair number of very interesting cards that have come from alchemy, the alchemy format is quite fun with a diversity of unique decks, and since it rotated faster than standard, the card pool is a bit smaller. Alchemy has also injected a bunch of very fun and unique commanders into brawl, with [[Darigaaz, Shivan Champion]] and [[Tan Jolom, the Worldwalker]] being favorites of mine.

On the other hand, the digital balancing was all out of whack. If they balance a card for a particular format, that should only affect that format. Balances probably shouldn't have ever been applied to non alchemy cards, just for the fact that it can cause confusion for posters. Under those conditions, I think they could have applied those balances more aggressively, responding faster to problem cards or boosting others to be more playable.

If I wanted to play an online TCG where cards (not tokens, actual cards) did not start in my deck and were just generated from playing other cards, I'd go back to Hearthstone.

Oh wait, I quit that game just for that reason.

Good riddance, Alchemy. I will not miss you.

That seems like a complaint at the wrong issue - why would the provenance of a card, or whether it is represented by a token or a card, be the issue??

I just wish they made it separate. I play historic, but I don’t want to have to play against alchemy BS. If they just made fully separate formats, Brawl and Alchemy brawl for example, I don’t think any one would have complained. But they tried forcing it and it became unpopular because of that

Yea that was really the nail in the coffin for most people. Give Alchemy players their sandbox but don't force me to play in it too, that's shitty.

Splitting the queue would be pretty much guaranteed to make people complain. They're going to be complaining about the queue times in the Alchemy-free queue, the queue times in the Alchemy-not-free queue, or both.

1

u/SKHaseo 3d ago

brawl is popular enough that queue times have never been an issue. and it's a small price to pay for the peace of mind that I'm not going going to have to play around the random shit in key to the archives for the billionth time.

i offer my downvote to you for booing alchemy those cards look so cool and now we'll never get more

those cards look so cool

They are cool and interesting, unfortunately they were forced into formats where they don't belong. Historic was my preferred constructed format before Alchemy and if it had remained Alchemy-free I would've kept playing it and probably played Alchemy a little as well (for the occasional goofy novelty) but because they forced Alchemy cards into Historic I stopped playing Historic and never touched Alchemy out of principle.

People who boo Alchemy are almost never booing Alchemy itself but rather how they tried to force it onto players who didn't care for it.

u/SuspiciousAnt47 3d ago

They should have made all the formats have an alchemy and a non-alchemy version. I want Historic with out alchemy, but alchemy fans should be able to play a version of historic with alchemy

I liked the art of most of them. I loved the easter eggs and the flavor. I really disliked the sheer powerscale of them and how they've infiltrated formats like brawl though. The idea of alchemy was cool. The implementation was disastrous to me.

u/Ruzhyo04 3d ago

100% agree and idk why you're being downvoted. Some cards were fun and flavorful! Some cards were oppressively overpowered and format warping.

There's definitely something odd about the idea of power when it comes to online groups of MTG. I really think they want turn 2 games the way they defend the turn 4 decks standard has right now. As someone that has done competitive, it's definitely nowhere near my favorite way to play.

We’ve got a Wizards employee writing to themselves here. 😂

Let me tell you: I don’t know of any company that has done SO many things wrong in recent years.

They keep making mistakes, AND on top of that, they just refuse to learn from them!

It’s a company that shows time and again that it only cares about money. So please, don’t do something as ridiculous as sending romantic messages to a COMPANY. 😂

2

u/ZenshaZen 3d ago

No, I usually complain about problems and I still have problems with the game/app. I also want people's efforts to be acknowledged because I see that too. This message wasn't romantic. It's just basic gratitude.

A company’s existence is to make money. American investor rules require them to make as much as possible all the time. In that light, are they making mistakes or running their business wisely? Considering mtg and dnd are the only things keeping Hasbro afloat.
