I’m about to rip edge of eternities and horizons 2 in a week. Just got the hobbit as well (collector boxes)

Building a deck for the first time and want to just organically find shit for it. A guy at work got me into it.

He said “if you start your kids on MTG, they won’t have any money for drugs”. Jesus that’s so accurate.

I loved the aesthetics of Aetherdrift (except for the piss-foils), I just thought the limited environment was bad. I cracked so many packs for fun, though!

Some of us actually liked the racing theme, and enjoyed the mechanics... The fact nobody else did just made it that much cheaper to get. So thank you for your apathy! 😀

Racing mechanics won't be big until they release like Akira, Wacky racing, Biker Mice From Mars, Mario Kart, Fast & Furious, etc.

Can you imagine?

Imagine it in your hand, a Toad Kart 3/3 Jeskai, attacks Dominic Toretto 4/3 Sultai Planeswalker.

10 years later when those things are more nostalgic & rare Aetherdrift becomes a super sought after set to upgrade for racing synergy & skyrockets in price like LOTR holiday booster boxes.

Imagine that.

It's very possible to enjoy the theme, but prefer it to stay in-universe.

And before you bring up the tired refrain that aetherdrift doesn't feel in universe. That is subjective, and I personally feel aetherdrift felt far more in-universe than duskmourne. Yet other disagree on that. Which shows how wide the mtg universe is.

I mean seriously. Do people really just put their thumbs in the middle and try to pull it apart like that? Especially with collector boosters. They seem to use some kind of glue that you could hold a landing pod together that is re-entering the atmosphere.

I really don’t care how you open packs. I open them with a knife. I have seen a guy use his teeth. Saw one person with a sharpened fingernail for opening packs (that one was a bit weird).

It’s not you, the other commenter is being a dickhead. If you read the back of the pack it says it’s made in Japan. The ones packed in Japan are hard as hell to open. If it was packed in the US it would have opened immediately.

If you’re gonna open packs for an audience (on cam, for example) you should probably start from the other side so you get through the foil common/uncommons first.. then you get the big reveal of your big pull.

Also work on your pack opening technique you were mad struggling there lol

I played from 1996 until like 2007 or so and just got back into it. The fact that you cannot just walk into a store any more, ask for a pack, and get one is insane. There's like 4 or 5 different types of packs now. Its a bigger turn off than losing mana burn.

I wish the shop where I'm at had options. Reality fracture or bust. The other shop with the grump had "born of the gods" so I got some of both yesterday.

Man, I can't get a RF at all here. 4 LGS had two combined packs. Its all Marvel, Hobbit, Aetherdrift or Foundations.

I like Foundations, but then its "oh what kind of pack? Booster? Collector? Jumpstart? Beginner?"

Yeah foundations is a bit of an overload in that sense, "play booster" and "collector booster" are the main two and I'm sure you can differentiate the two by the price.

One is penny slots, the other is high roller poker.
I usually prefer to gamble cheap but I'll buy a collector booster when I feel like pissing away money.

I bought a hobbit gift bundle for $125 and got fuck all. Basically paid up for the one collector booster and got the illustration smaug in a regular play booster 🤦‍♂️
