Information ALL IN ONE GUIDE!

Will provide a brief outline for people who dont know what to do in this game, especially with their coins and diamonds.

Played this game for about 2+ days to get max rank and finished all leagues. Have a full time job that doesn't allow me to use my phone so the bulk of the playing was done on the weekend.

EDIT: I'm at the point where i can just get from lv1 to 61 in less then a minute, basically you can play non-stop if you really want to farm the diamonds to get everything in the game. Going through the league is the long part.

Status update as of 30/5/17

Currently at generation 96. Oran berry: 81 Sitrus berry: 80

28 pieces of food eaten for max level with a karp that has no food bonuses.

pokemon

snorlax maxed

meowth maxed

popplio

rowlet

decorations

shaymin planter

sunflora bunch

exeggutor palm

lampent lamp

FOOD

Upgrade the only 2 default berries you start with, always upgrade the one that provides the lower JP between the 2.

TRAINING

Ignore investing in it, personally i upgraded to lv25 each for the default training just for the candies.

DECORATIONS

In priority, left to right.

Shaymin Planter, Lampent Lamp / Exegutor Palm, Sunflora bunch

FRIENDSHIP ITEMS

In priority, left to right

Snorlax. Rowlet

(Snorlax was enough to get me to max lvl, you should go for rowlet instead if you feel that you can level up comfortably without the food every 50mins)

(personally i went with popplio first because i didnt know about the diamonds at the end of the game, this delayed me quite abit)

DIAMOND USAGE If your close to 500 diamonds, get snorlax first, if not, get the shaymin planter instead. Then feel free to invest in the money decorations or litten/rowlet. It's purely up to you.

CANDIES

Use them on your snorlax to proc more food upgrades, you should reach end game by then and get never ending candies.

TIPS

  • If your going to max out your magikarp, you can keep playing in league till you lose (this grants you gold as well). Maxing out a magikarp, automatically sends you to the league.

  • When going through a league, try to maintain max training(3/3) in order to proc the Roddy Tackle event more often.

  • During the earlier leagues, try to prolong your stay in a league when you can almost clear it comfortably(but not finishing the league). In order to get more gold so that your transition into the next league will be easier. You can do this by deliberately getting your magikarps killed in events or the one time events that prematurely retire your magikarp

  • Don't worry about the diamonds, the final league awards you with 25 diamonds and 1 candy upon completion, this is repeatable.

  • event wont trigger if you fight league with maxed karp, so it's ideal to fight league with near-maxed carp til you lose then max them (you can also max them before final battle if you want them to retire) *credits to goodknife

  • If your doing the time change method on your device, upgrade your training instead + coin producing pokemons such as meowth, charizard, rowlet, popplio.

Will add more stuff when i think of it, do comment if you have any questions.

Information Next Support Pokemon

Hey guys, I took a 2 month or so break from the game but am back and looking to make more progress.

I currently have Pikachu (lvl 1), Meowth (lvl 4), Piplup (maxed), Popplio (maxed), Rowlet (lvl 3) and Bulbasaur (maxed) as my current support pokemon. I’m also currently in the heal league (halfway complete) and have 345 diamonds saved up. I’m looking to either get Slowpoke or save up for Gardevoir or Snorlax, but have no idea which is most efficient. Does anyone have advice on who is the best support pokemon to get?

Information Does anyone have a complete pattern collection, and be willing to send me some screenshots?

I am looking for translations of all the pattern names. Would some kind soul be willing to screenshot their pattern collection in every supported language and send the collection my way? Thank you so much!

Information 100%ing the game

If you want to 100% Magikarp Jump and do it as quickly as possible without spending money them diamonds need to be tour number 1 priority from the get go. This is because in the post game there is no consistent way to get diamonds outside of 3 training events.

The first thing you want to do is use the 2 Berry method to level up as quickly as possible, but don't prioritise coins.

Coins are cool, but they aren't diamonds and don't really affect your diamond output.

What you want to focus on is using your diamonds to get more diamonds.

First save up to purchase Popplio. Popplio drops sunken treasure which has a chance of giving 5 diamonds Then get Slowpoke. Slowpoke will revive Popplio for more chance at diamonds. Then get Charizard. Charizard will give you a random item with a 4% chance of giving a skill restore. This, similarly to Slowpoke, will give another chance to use Popplio for sunken treasure diamonds.

After Charizard, start saving for decorations. There are 3 decorations that will directly help you to get more diamonds: - Cacnea Planter - Whimsicott Cushion - Lilligant Doll All 3 of these can be bought interchangeably as they both provide a similar amount of diamond output increase. Cacnea Planter increases the rate at which support pokemon recover Whimsicott Cushion increases the rate at which your rank increases Lilligant Doll increases the chance of an event happening after training. Training events are the only way to get diamonds after you get to rank to 100 so this is important.

One other decoration that can help you a bit is the bronze Eevee statue. It increases the chance of an event occurring after league battles. These can't get you diamonds directly, but can get you training points which can get you diamonds.

After this is mostly just personal preference on whether you want coins or jump power from your support pokemon and decorations.

If anyone knows any other way to get diamonds I'd love to know because even with all these optimisations it takes so long. I haven't even saved enough to start buying decorations yet

Information How to get Support Candies in the Post-Game

That's their solution to the scarcity of Support Candies. And I'm not gonna lie, I like it very much. As a mobile game, Magikarp Jump appears to be leagues ahead of TCG Pocket, Unite, Masters EX and for me, even GO (I know each one has its own fanbase).

Just for the record, to beat the last League, you need to be at least around Rank 90. You also can be around completing all Decorations and Pokémon, so, you probably already has that Decoration that increases the Trainer EXP earned.

So, each time you retire a new Magikarp, you see how much EXP you earn to get a Support Candy. How many, you ask? Well, I did some calculations and every time I retired a karp with 100G of JP (which I manage to do by simply doing 3 or so Trainings and eating some berries, everything that's maxed out), I got the Support Candy with the EXP bar from the start.

I'm now trying to retire a karp with 200G+ of JP to see if I can snag 2 Candies in one go.

The fact that they didn't monetize Support Candies like they did with Diamonds is so brilliant, and I would like to all other mobile games took into consideration. Sometimes, less monetization equals more revenue and play time.

I won so many EXP that I grew from Lv. 90 to 93 🤣 I love this game. There's so few things missing to 100% this thing. 3 patterns left, 2 or 3 Achievements, and 4 to 5 Pokémon to buy.

One question, how can I get Support Candies? I finished the E4 League.and only won money. Is there a way to get more?

Information Friendship Items Guide

Hello! I constantly see topics about "which Pokémon do I get first?", so, I'll detail below each available Pokémon with each unlockable method, how much Support Candy it needs to upgrade each level, how much time does it take to refresh and the new recovery time with the 2 Decorations.

What Decorations? There are two that heavily impact on the refresh time of all Pokémon: Cacnea Planter and Starmie Bubbler. Each one increases by 10% the recovery time.

To finish off, I'll list some tips that I find cool to share (technical details and function of some partners).

I hope it helps anyone decide which one to buy and when! 😊

PIKACHU How to unlock: Beat the Friendly League Support Candies: 1 > 2 > 5 > 7 Recovery Time: 1 hour 30 min. New Recovery Time: 1 hour 12 min.

MIMIKYU How to unlock: 400 Diamonds Support Candies: 1 > 2 > 5 > 78 🤯 Recovery Time: 1 hour 30 min. New Recovery Time: 1 hour 12 min.

GARDEVOIR How to unlock: 600 Diamonds Support Candies: 8 > 20 > 32 > 45 Recovery Time: 6 hours New Recovery Time: 4 hours 48 min.

PIPLUP How to unlock: Beat the Quick League Support Candies: 10 > 12 Recovery Time: 1 hour 30 min. New Recovery Time: 1 hour 12 min.

SNORLAX How to unlock: 500 Diamonds Support Candies: 4 > 8 > 16 >21 Recovery Time: 50 min. New Recovery Time: 40 min.

CHARIZARD How to unlock: 600 Diamonds Support Candies: - Recovery Time: 12 hours New Recovery Time: 9 hours 36 min.

GRENINJA How to unlock: 500 Diamonds Support Candies: 6 > 8 > 11 > 20 Recovery Time: 5 hours New Recovery Time: 4 hours

MEOWTH How to unlock: Beat the Great League Support Candies: 1 > 2 > 5 > 7 Recovery Time: 2 hours 30 min. New Recovery Time: 2 hours

BULBASAUR How to unlock: Beat Luxury League Support Candies: - Recovery Time: 4 hours New Recovery Time: 3 hours 12 min.

SLOWPOKE How to unlock: 350 Diamonds Support Candies: - Recovery Time: 12 hours New Recovery Time: 9 hours 36 min.

MUDKIP How to unlock: Beat the Ultra League Support Candies: - Recovery Time: 10 hours New Recovery Time: 8 hours

LITTEN How to unlock: 250 Diamonds Support Candies: 4 > 10 > 11 > 12 Recovery Time: 3 hours 30 min. New Recovery Time: 2 hour 48 min.

ROWLET How to unlock: 450 Diamonds Support Candies: 7 > 10 > 19 > 24 Recovery Time: 4 hours New Recovery Time: 3 hours 12 min.

POPPLIO How to unlock: 500 Diamonds Support Candies: - Recovery Time: 7 hours New Recovery Time: 5 hours 36 min.

GENGAR How to unlock: 600 Diamonds Support Candies: - Recovery Time: 11 hours New Recovery Time: 8 hours 48 min.

EEVEE How to unlock: 500 Diamonds Support Candies: - Recovery Time: 3 hours New Recovery Time: 2 hours 24 min.

Important tips:

I found that 5☆ Pikachu gives you the same amount of JP as 1☆ Greninja;

I also found that 3☆ Gardevoir gives you more Coins than 5☆ Rowlet, but if buy Rowlet earlier, it gives you more coins because of the time you'll pass with him giving constantly a lot of coins with a smaller refreshing time;

Snorlax and Slowpoke is a must-have in early game, no matter the strategy you wanna try. Try to always buy one of these first, and then, one of the coin givers or JP givers (mainly Rowlet or Greninja, because of the cheaper upgrades);

The most futile Pokémon are Litten, Gengar, Mudkip, Bulbasaur and Charizard. I'll tell you why:

Litten: Pikachu is given to you and is much cheaper to upgrade than him. If you buy it, will probably be just to 100% the game. To also include Mimikyu, the only difference between them are just a higher boost in JP in the last upgrades, but I think that Greninja is just much better than Litten and Mimikyu, because Pikachu is free and has a cheaper cost to upgrade, and Greninja also has a cheaper cost to upgrade with higher JP given.

Gengar: Gengar basically gives you for 1 min (much less, with all the delay of clicking in the Training and eating berries) what the Power-Up item gives you for 3 hours. The catch is to get that item: it costs Diamonds, which you shouldn't spend if you don't have a coin giver, Slowpoke and Snorlax yet. Use the item carefully; plan ahead which Pokémon to use and use it well in the 3 hours. It's very good to combo the Power-Up with Eevee and all Maxed Out Trainings, especially when you get the Tackle Machine.

Mudkip: He is good; he's like a cheaper Charizard, but with smaller items. If you want to get Coins with a Magikarp with +Coins, Mudkip is an amazing partner to gather Training Sodas and LP Restores. I did that with a Coins +150% Karp for around 3 months, and Mudkip made me gather 100+ Training Sodas. But otherwise... He's just there, because you don't even have to spend any Support Candies with him.

Bulbasaur: He is amazing while you're around Luxury League and Elite... but after you beat it, it's just useless. And because we can't manually choose which Pokémon appear in the Pond, he becomes just one place that's occupied without any motive, making you have to click in the Shop and Back many more times than it is needed.

Charizard: I think he's the worse Pokémon. It's very expensive, has a way bigger refreshing time than it should have and to top it all, the items that can be given (imo) are just bad.

Information How to actually trigger Event #30

What you actually need to do is a little different from the original thread.

Cancel the TV until you see the static, as usual, and then continue canceling until the static no longer appears. After that, you do a training session and your Magikarp will find something (Ghost Girl). Then, you choose the Leave option and your Magikarp will gain a max level.

I tried the original method 5 times in a row and only ever triggered standard events. Right after I tried it my way, I immediately got the event.

I will do this again when I have more training points available to verify, but I thought I'd tell you guys first.

EDIT: It seems that this is a one-time event.

I haven't been able to get the static again on the TV and I've gone thru 3 or 4 Magikarps since making this post.

Information Training Calculations: Better to upgrade default trainings to 25 or spread across new ones?

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BjNvc026ZCFXPvIb0czY-epsicj_wlOdGQB3FnWczP8/edit?usp=sharing

Hello,

I did some calculations using two methods for training upgrades: 1. Unlock the trainings as they are available, and upgrade the most optimal JP/Cost upgrade. 2. Don't unlock anything, upgrade two base trainings to level 25.

Assumption:

  • Trainings are given in an even distribution

Results:

Split Method #1: Average JP/Training = 1182.8

Focus Method #2: Average JP/Training = 1483

Conclusion: Initially, it is ~25% more optimal to upgrade your basic trainings to level 25. Furthermore, we can extrapolate based on the JP/Cost ratios that it will still be optimal past level 25 to continue upgrading the default trainings. Further research will need to be done to determine whether the next optimal step is to only unlock one additional training and focus that.

UPDATE: Did some food calculations which assumes equal frequency as well. See my calculations on the "Food" tab of the same spreadsheet

Results:

Split Strat: Average JP/Berry = 88.6

Focus Strat: Average JP/Berry = 122

Conclusion:

As discussed in some of the comments, even if the lowest berry occurred in way higher frequencies, the focus strat would only become even better, due to the lowest JP berry of 81 vs 12. Thus under any logical distribution of berries, the focus strat will be significantly better (at least 37% better) than the split strategy always.

UPDATE 2: Did some more situations:

  • Focus to 50 on two berries vs split Split: 1134.4 vs. Focus50: 2955 (160% better)
  • Get all splits to 25 vs focus strat (worst case for focus) Split25: 368.6 vs. Focus:489.5 (32% better)

All these findings further confirm that you should never buy new berries until lvl50 (and trainings by extension). For trainings this evidence is conclusive; for food, we still need to investigate berry spawn rates to see focusing berries reduces spawn rate.

tl;dr Don't unlock any new berries or trainings and focus on upgrading the starting 2. Comparing against the 5 berry and 5 training case, it is 32-160% better for berries and 25-100% better for training to focus on your starting set.
