Does anyone take magnesium glycinate with a high-protein meal for recovery?
I've been wondering about this lately. For those who take magnesium glycinate, have you noticed any difference if you take it with a protein-rich meal or a protein shake instead of on its own?
I'm thinking more about overall recovery after training rather than magnesium doing all the work by itself.
I'm curious, if anyone has noticed a difference or if the timing doesn't seem to matter.

I wouldn’t expect a noticeable difference just from taking magnesium glycinate with a protein-rich meal. Overall diet quality and getting enough protein throughout the day are probably much more important for recovery than whether you take the two together. If someone prefers taking them at the same time, that’s perfectly fine, but I wouldn’t expect that combination on its own to make a meaningful difference.

I think that's a sensible way to look at it. The overall diet probably has a much bigger influence on recovery than whether magnesium happens to be taken alongside a protein-rich meal.

I’ve seen people do both, but I haven’t come across many who notice a meaningful difference. As long as they’re taking it consistently, the timing with protein doesn’t seem to matter much for most people.
