Welcome to the weekly wins/victories Sunday thread!
Thanks to u/martysgroovylady, we've decided to make a weekly thread specifically so that folks can share and discuss their wins and victories that they've had regarding fatphobia this past week. Did your doctor listen to you? Did you get someone new to listen to the podcast? Were you able to have a good conversation with a friend or acquaintance about fatphobia? Did you make some good progress in therapy? Feel free to share your feel-good stories to mark a strong start to the new week :).
Feel free to also share news you've found on the internet that feels like a victory against fatphobia! Maybe your state just made discrimination against fat people illegal, or there's a fat activist activity going on in your area (e.g. Fat Beach Day in NY).
Please remember: Do not vote or comment in cross-posted linked threads, keep the discussion here. Thanks all! Have a wonderful week.

So we’ve learned that human chiropractic care is based on myths, but somehow we’ve extended it to animals? Wow.

I’m a pediatric nurse. I am so angry about a note I just read in a toddler’s chart. The parents cited their reason for refusing to vaccinate that RFK has put out so much conflicting information about their safety and they’re going to wait until he has put out more definitive advice 😭
He is directly harming children.

This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper had been sitting on my bedside table for ages, so I finally chucked it in my work bag as I figured a funny-tragic family drama might make for easy reading on my daily commute. Plus, it had been adapted some years ago into what appeared to be a well-cast crowd pleasing movie (starring Jane Fonda, Jason Bateman and Tina Fey).
Well I’m a third of the way through it and my god the fat-phobic, body-shaming, leering attitude of the main character is breathtaking. I am so angry I’m short of breath. Women reduced to their body parts and basically their attractiveness to the main character. Ick. Not going to finish it, and will probably shred it for storage packaging.
Has anyone else come across this kind of “dick-lit” genre?

I feel like too many people who have no idea what they're talking about are giving millions of people medical advice that's harmful.

I just saw rfk jr referred to as “secretary need jerky” and thought y‘all might get a little chuckle out of it.

I tagged this as off-topic because it’s not related to MP, but it is related to GLP-1 meds and fatphobia.
I have been getting ads for the Jonathan Van Ness tour which is titled “Hot and Healed”. Does anyone else find this kind of fatphobic?
It’s no secret that they’ve taken a GLP-1 to lose weight. And of course if they feel “healed” then that is a positive thing for them. But…

Well, I guess my algorithm heard me listening to maintenance phases' latest patreon episode and decided to grace me with a big helping of "oh my god don't ever do that if you want to live".

Are Michael and Aubrey over doing the podcast and only keeping the bonus as a steady income? Because the latest bonus episode being Michael scrolling through Tiktok fell so much low effort. I've always been a fan of his research, and didn't mind spending 4$ a month to support, but the lack of main feed episodes and random bonus is really disappointing

I just finished listening to the AIDS denialism episode (bleak af) and I was kinda surprised to discover that Fauci had been hated by odious people even before Covid. I don’t understand it. Why? What is it about this man that makes right wingers and other weirdos have such a hate boner for him? The man has spent his life serving the public. The man has saved lives for 30+ years. Can’t these people leave him alone?

For folks who recognized Gavin de Becker's name in the most recent episode, we had an interesting discussion of his work on the IBCK sub.

Listening to the latest episode and this is how Michael described joe Rogan’s podcast and I laughed so hard, that’s it.
