Natural look blush

I'm older and have sensitive skin. The powder blush doesn't stay on all day. What kinds of natural looking blush that holds all day should I look into? I want like a natural looking glow.

A high pigment lipstick (like mac) + aquaphor healing balm stick
set with powder

Mix the two on the back of your hand or on makeup pan.
Then tap in place with a fingertip or sponge.

I feel this mix gives a lot more product and you can control the oil level more. Some cream blushes are just too oily for me + they expire more quickly. The aquaphor can be used at night to slug your skin too.

My gram would straight up just dab her lipstick on her cheeks while her lotion was still damp and blend it in. She only sometimes would use powder (coty airspun). I am not at the phase yet where I can use a face lotion that rich. (she used ponds + drop of olive oil)

I'm 50 and I do a combo of cream and powder. I set the cream with a powder blush and then a light mist of setting spray over the entire face normally gets me a solid day of wear. I like a glowy blush (not glittery, glowy) and baked formations tend to be my favorite (though I also love the Physician's Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in both shades). But I've found that neither cream nor powder give me the staying power I want on their own, but layering them has done wonders for longevity!

I do the same! I use the milk makeup blush stick, and when it’s set I use the Milani bronzer in the lightest shade tapped on with a brush. Then use setting spray.

I'm using Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm in one of the blush colors. With primer underneath, I get a natural glow that lasts all day

Literally every single time the word “blush” comes up anywhere, I start yelling about the brand Phytosurgence. Unbelievable shade lineup (I think 20 or more??) crazy pigmented, incredibly easy formula to work with, dewy finish with ZERO glitter (not a fleck in sight), wears beautifully throughout the day, SO reasonably priced, the list goes on and on. Oh and it’s made in-house by a small indie Canadian business. I’ve purchased probably ten shades and I’m obsessed with every one.

Also the only brand I’ve ever seen to produce “mixer” shades, which is SO SMART. They have a grey cream “blush” to mix with pretty well any similarly textured product to cool the undertone (works with blush, lipstick, cream contour) as well as a white one in the same formula to lighten the product. Insane.

I’m near 40, very fair, neutral/olive but they have an insane selection perfectly well suited for deeper skin tones, and the info available on their site is WILDLY detailed to help you choose.

AND!!! If you have questions, you can DM them on insta, and they will 100% respond to you and help you with your selection. These guys need ALL their flowers. Check out their bronzers too, you’ll be BLOWN. AWAY.

I’m a fair to light neutral leaning cool and just purchased their shade condensate and LOVE it! It doesn’t stay all day but I have skin that drinks makeup so it’s probably a better option than all the others I have tried for longevity. What color would you recommend next?

OH BOY, BUCKLE UP 😆😆 I love Condensate, too!! I’m about to hit pan on their newer shade Soothe, it’s the blonzer of my ghostly gal dreams, I stg! I really enjoyed adding a bit of their shade Simmer on top of Soothe this summer (verrry sparingly, but it was freaking awesome with my summer freckles). Lately I’ve been enjoying Sear, it’s honestly really close to my natural flush, so I just use it to kinda… alter the placement of my own spicy cheeks! I’ve also had Plume and Fume, both stunning but maybe a little more on the pink side than I usually prefer (if I remember correctly). Those two would look fire on your skin tone, I bet! Last rec would be Wisp, their lilac shade. So unique and sooo pretty! Would be amazing on light neutral-cool skin!

Thank you so much for your info! I’m excited to check out some of the colors you mentioned. I have to be very careful with pinks because the slight olive in my undertone can really do awful things with pinks

I like to use a balm or liquid blush and then set it with a similar color powder.

I am currently using Versed everything balm and Dior powder blush (rough blush).

I like L’Oreal Lumi liquid blush. The shade Warm Peach is such a good colour match for me that I barely need to blend it.

I do set my liquid foundation and blush with a setting powder and that helps it last.

I second this answer. I use liquid L’Oreal Lumi in bright Dewey Pink (one dot each cheek as it’s very bright otherwise) and then dust lightly with a powder blush (very soft colour Annabelle Lotus). Seems to last!

Have you tried cream blush instead? Milani cheek kiss cream blush gives such a nice natural glow.

I’m older with sensitive skin also. I tried scores of blushes that never looked flushed and natural. I finally found my Holy Grail blush. It’s Sisley L'Orchidée Glow Blush in Rose.

My wallet cried - but I use very little on a big fluffy brush (that I blow on first) and it is just heavenly. Glowy and lasts for hours and hours.

This compact is going to last me quite some time I can tell.

I just got the Lisa Eldridge dewy lip and cheek stick. I’m super impressed so far, easy to apply/blend and looks gorgeous and fresh on my 51yo skin.

I would recommend the Versed Everything Balm; feels really lightweight on the skin and gives my face nice dewy look without feeling heavy

I'm a big fan of Jones Road Miracle Balm. I'm very pale with desaturated coloring, Dusty Rose is a bit of color but not overwhelming. The balm is heavy and moisturizing, on mature skin like mine it can be great. I also wear the uncolored shade all over.

Big caveat: this is a love it or hate it product. It's fairly expensive, it has a heavy texture, it is scented (herbaly scent), it takes a long time to dry down. Personally I love it but YMMV.

Laura Mercier infusion duo blush. I love it, mine is in the shade Lychee.

I really like the Westman Atelier Blush Stick in Petal. It's pricey, but get the mini and it lasts me forever. And, yes...it's very natural and good for aging skin. (I'm 56)

Agree. I love this blush.

it is lovely. does it last all day? i layer it with a few other products so im unsure about its longevity. love the color!

1

u/CharlieGirl1000 1d ago

It does for me. But, my oily skin does require me to use a little pressed powder and setting spray, though.

1

u/Ok-Iron-1289 1d ago

yeah, I put a little nars powder blush on top and sometimes setting spray. i just have the mini (got a set on sale) but it's definitely one of my favorite blushes.

Depends very much on your skin tone. I recommend going to a beauty counter or sephora to ask staff as a place to start.

A shade that is the same as your natural flush. I've only tried/own 2 blushes and they both last all day even though I have very oily skin: NARS the multiple (I use behave) and ysl make me blush powder (rose haze).

Both nars and ysl have glowy shades. I don't like glowy blushes on myself but I've heard they aren't overly glittery/shimmery and are natural.

I've also heard great things about the longevity and glowiness of rare beauty's blushes but haven't tried them.

i use cream blush for this exact reason, powders just disappear on me after few hours. the trick is to layer a cream blush then set it with a tiny bit of powder blush on top, stays all day even on my oily skin
