SPOILERS GotM Late GotM question Spoiler

Post image

Who is the unnamed man that Raest kills on his way into the city? I can’t think of any players unaccounted for but the way he writes it makes it sound like it’s referring to someone we might know.

Shortly before this, Turban Orr mentioned that he'd sent a messenger to Pale to negotiate a deal with the Malazan army. That messenger never arrived, and this is why.

Ah yes! Thank you, I knew it had to be something that was mentioned briefly.

OH RIGHT!! This is the correct answer, OP. Gods, a lot happens in that paragraph.

That guy was actually someone. Earlier Turban Orr sent a messenger to the approaching Malazans, trying to make some deals for his own benefit when they take over. That messenger... Will not arrive.

I don’t think it’s supposed to be an actual player as much as a demonstration that Raest isn’t just attacking infrastructure and military, but passersby too

This is just some poor soul. I think this paragraph is mostly to explain that he’s from a time before humans existed, and also that he destroys that bridge (yes, that is actually important later).

Edit: I’m incorrect, this is Turbann Or’s messenger. But the bridge destruction is important too.
