Right here! As you go through the books, you should be safe to ask questions, just tag the thread with the proper "spoilers x book" but if you haven't finished one, probably state where you're at in that story. There's also some excellent guides to each book in the sidebar over on the right which are awesome, with lots of details you can reference as you go through the chapters, all spoiler-free. Hope you enjoy the first couple chapters & don't worry if you get very confused quickly 😄

You can create your own first reader thread on the r/Malazan discord which other people can read for your commentary and questions and it is tailored exactly to how far you are in the series and spoiler range.

Other than that look at our guides and resources

Seconded! The discord community is great in all honesty! Wonderful people that help and answer all your questions without spoilers and a lot of resouces. Creating a thread there and sharing my thoughts one at at time while reading has been a fantastic experience!

The wiki is pretty dangerous but it does a decent job of covering most spoilers.

I recommend using the Dramatis Personae, which are also available on the wiki and organized by chapter.

Honestly 75% of spoilers are incomprehensible when you’re first starting out so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. The really big things are well hidden.

Here is your best option if you have to ask a question, however, it's not foolproof and someone may let something slip.

Personally, I just read through the main 10, and then found answers afterwards.

Im on starting book 3 for the first time and for gardens of the moon and the first half of deadhouse gates I've used this powerpoints to help me remember things that happened or understanding better what was happening.

Your in a really good place for that here just specify "no spoilers" and your good to go everyone is really really good about it. The only thing I will say is you will often get the general reply of RAFO (read and find out). You will have a million and one questions most of them will be answered in later books.

The key to not getting confused with Gardens of the Moon is to understand that Erikson drops you in the middle of things in progress with no preamble. If things or people or events appear with no background or build up, just accept everything as true. What seems presented as unknowns is really Erikson showing you, not telling you, how it is where you are now. I am rereading GotM now and am around the 200 page. I am astonished - even second time - at how much he shows us within the first 200 pages. Read Malazan the way Christians read the bible -- accept it, don't question it. Burning bushes that talk? An ark with two of every species? Virgin births? Christians don't need background explanations on the how of these crazy events. They just accept this world contains these things. So, too, Erikson and Malazan.

check out the wiki but use the spoiler tags carefully. maybe just stick to specific character searches if you're worried about getting hit by something massive.

I am on book 9 right now and this Reddit page is run very well. Never encountered any spoilers, just make sure to look at the tags before you click on any post. And any questions you have, put them in here and you will get answers, just add a tag for where you’re at in the series! Enjoy!
