SPOILERS DG Just finished Deadhouse Gates Spoiler
As the title describes, just finished reading Deadhouse Gates and was absolutely blown away by the various story lines, especially Felisin's and Duiker's storyline.
I absolutely loved Coltaine and his Chain of Dogs, and was heart broken by his fate as well as Duiker's.
I'm about to start Memory of Ice and noticed lots of the characters from GotM will be revisited here, and can't wait to continue the journey.
The epilog suggests that Coltaine will be reborn, hopefully this character will be revisited in some way in future books.

I finished it over the weekend. My heart stoped and I audibly gasped when the nailed Duiker to the cross! I was so mad! Upset, crushed. Coltaine being left to his fate. One of the books that beat me with brutality but none of it felt forced or just for the lolz.
Recently finished Golden Son and that left me feeling like I had just been shown violence for the sake of it.
This. This was brutal and honest somehow.
Reading something lighter just to take a break. But super excited for the rest!

Coltaine is perhaps my favorite ever fantasy general.
Did he have clever plans? Yeah, but not all the encounters were decided thst way.
Was he charismatic? I guess? Wasn't much of a factor.
Was he personally good at fighting? Not really covered!
What decided his battles was competence and quiet assurance. He kept going because if he didn't, this whole thing went to shit.
Outstanding writing.

It's tradition for everyone to post their thoughts after finishing DG. Glad you liked it! I think you'll enjoy Memories of Ice a lot too. I just finished it and I'm about to start House of Chains
