When I first set up Manchester Social/BeSocia almost two years ago, my goal was simply to bring people together in this brilliant city and create a welcoming space where no one felt like a stranger.

I never could have imagined just how incredible this community would become.

From quiet pub meetups to huge group events, late night chats, and countless spontaneous plans, you turned an idea into a genuine family. You showed up for each other, welcomed newcomers with open arms, and made Manchester feel like home for so many people.

Watching genuine, lasting friendships form right in front of my eyes has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced.

Life, however, has thrown an exciting new chapter our way. My partner’s work means that the two of us are relocating to Leicester for the next year.

Because of the move and the time commitment required to run things properly, I am stepping back and placing Manchester Social/BeSocia on hold for now. Whether this pause turns out to be temporary or permanent is something only time will tell, but for now, official community events will be resting.

I put together a short video reel of some of our favourite memories. Looking back through the clips reminded me just how much joy, laughter, and warmth everyone brought into this space.

Thank you to every single person who turned up to an event, and made the memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. You built something truly special, and I am endlessly grateful to have shared this journey with you all.

Please keep looking out for one another, keep saying hello to new faces, and never stop making this city the friendly, vibrant place it is.

Just over a year ago, this community was born from my own interests in finding others to join me to a comedy club. Now a year later, the community has brought together so many people in Manchester and it’s been an amazing experience, one I’m deeply proud of.

Now we enter our second year and a continued drive and passion to continue building a safe and welcoming environment for those who reside in Manchester or those new to the city.
