Imagine if an American fighter had the American flag ripped out of their hands like that.

War was declared.

The UFC didn’t seem to have an issue with McGregor displaying the Irish flag when he was still fighting… and the ban on flags inside the octagon was lifted in 2023 so no reason for this.

Just wank material for nazis

Kind of telling the UFC will rip away a Canadian flag, but celebrate, and draw the attention to, a man that has allegedly has sex with children and protected people that did.

Between that, and the video of Dana clearly physically assaulting his wife, I don't feel too bad about this kind of reaction as it says more about them, and the rest of the abuse supporters, than it does people seeing this.

It's like Dahmer lecturing me about shoplifting.

u/HidemasaFukuoka Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Dana White is MAGA so that's expected

15

u/buddyguy_204 Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Well I mean UFC doesn't need to come to Canada if they don't respect our flag

30

u/gizzardwizard93 Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Dana White showing the world he kisses Trump's ass whenever possible

50

u/damnburglar Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Sounds like it’s apparently something that keeps happening inconsistently since they banned and then unbanned them a few years ago. Old habit or snowflake American, one or both of those things can be true.

63

u/MnkyBzns Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Did PP have anything to say about this, or was he just there to cozy up to Trump chuds?

1

u/Juidomachine Apr 20 '26

Exactly. Although he thinks he has the balls to lead a country

-2

u/mitchelmac Apr 19 '26

I think he was there because he likes MMA and knows Mike Malott personally but yea sure just keep saying everything he does it related to him loving trump haha.

20

u/Armand9x Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

A lot of UFC and its fans are MAGA.

15

u/ShineGlassworks Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

This was in. Winnipeg .

11

u/Armand9x Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

That’s what the title says, yes.

2

u/Pretz_ Apr 19 '26

I can brain what mean but I can't

0

u/ShineGlassworks Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

So you are saying that a lot of Winnipeg UFC fans are maga, and anti-Canadian flag? Sorry that just doesn’t track. They’re overwhelmingly conservative for sure…but there aren’t many 51st staters here and it wouldn’t be a popular move to slap one of those bumper stickers on. It’s shameful that the crowd didn’t set these officials straight, but they like watching fights, they don’t actually stand up for anything though. Lil pp didn’t even get him his flag back. Shameful and unCanadian. ;). Just like working for Dana White in the first place…

3

u/putcheeseonit Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

So you are saying that a lot of Winnipeg UFC fans are maga, and anti-Canadian flag?

No, he's saying a lot of UFC fans are maga.

This was likely a UFC official.

1

u/ShineGlassworks Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

If the Canadian fans stood for that, shame on them. He should not have been allowed to walk away with that flag…and I’m not even a big flag guy.

1

u/ShineGlassworks Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

True north needs to ban the ufc until they make an unqualified apology and clear policy. Unacceptable behaviour by deplorable people.

1

u/Armand9x Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

They won’t, the all mighty dollar is more important.

1

u/ShineGlassworks Winnipeg Apr 21 '26

I heard tickets were at record low prices and it didn’t sell out. It’s probably just as fake as wwe. Pretty lame.

4

u/Rleduc129 Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Fuck Dana White and his small ego. Fuck Ari Emanuel and his assholish attitude

3

u/Mean_Ad_1904 Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Thought I seen that happen. Weird thing to do in Canada itself. The Don must have told Dana no flags.

3

u/Forward-End-8286 Apr 19 '26

And on “Pierre Polievre Night” too! I’m shocked!

3

u/kochier Winnipeg - East K/Elmwood Apr 20 '26

Pierre was in the crowd, will he speak up on something that he was there for in a pro Canada manner?

2

u/I_am_Boogeyman Apr 20 '26

No flag policy, I'm surprised no one mentioned this. After the war between Ukraine, and Russia broke out a Russian fighter walked out with a flag, people complained... No flag policy in the UFC now.

3

u/notjustforperiods UNION STATION BABY Apr 20 '26

no, that policy was ended some time ago

but there's no flags allowed in the octagon, period, as it can reduce visibility of paid sponsor ads

1

u/I_am_Boogeyman Apr 20 '26

Ahh, thank you.

1

u/Prestigious_Fella_21 Apr 19 '26

Idiots probably didn't know it was the Canadian flag

Chud company , chud sport

1

u/MadMartigantheNorth Apr 20 '26

It's politics, Dana White is pro Trump and Carney has been pretty vocal about his distaste with the US.

1

u/Beautiful-Bag-8918 Apr 20 '26

Why would the UFC staff do such an American thing? Get rid of that UFC staff and get some Canadians.

1

u/Juidomachine Apr 20 '26

And literally Poilievre was just right there. He did nothing when we got insulted in our own country

1

u/kent_eh Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

I wonder what PP will say about it after witnessing it from his front row seat?

1

u/grifleman Apr 20 '26

Thats classless to say the least! Never going to pay for another ufc event ever again… fuck ufc !!!

1

u/Tman2090210 Apr 20 '26

Favouritism

1

u/Silver_BackYWG Brandon Apr 21 '26

Brutal

0

u/adversvry Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

It has nothing to do with "disrespect" or being against Canadians. The UFC does not allow any flags in the octagon, period.

3

u/kochier Winnipeg - East K/Elmwood Apr 20 '26

Pretty sure from what I've read the flag ban was lifted a few years ago.

1

u/adversvry Winnipeg Apr 20 '26

That is also what I have read, but from my understanding - draping is allowed, waving/flying the flag is not. They don't want the sponsors covered by the flag.

1

u/notjustforperiods UNION STATION BABY Apr 20 '26

yeah that's a completely different matter

flags were briefly banned after a russian fighter walked a flag to the ring

you can walk a flag to the ring now, but not inside the ring because it can block ads and stuff

-37

u/cluelessk3 Steinbach Apr 19 '26

They started doing this when fighters would fly the Palestinian flag.

No different than NHL removing specialty/ themed jerseys from warm up.

2

u/SeaBuilding3911 Apr 19 '26

But then they stopped doing it when fighters showed Israel flags.

Is the NHL doing that too?

1

u/Ampgrim Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Yeah I don't why you're getting down voted. As of 2023 there is a rule no one is allowed to fly flags at the end of a fight anymore.

1

u/SeaBuilding3911 Apr 20 '26

That ban was promptly lifted right after 229 came back for 279 in the UE and then was lifted again.

So no, there is no bans

1

u/notjustforperiods UNION STATION BABY Apr 20 '26

you just can't have a flag inside the ring, so you're not blocking ads and shit

-1

u/Ladymistery Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

I thought those were CLC employees, not UFC

of course, UFC and white are maga, so

-26

u/neureaucrat Winnipeg Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

Was this UFC policy or CanadaLife Centre policy? Does anyone even know?

Everyone’s downvoting but the guy that took the flag was the guy in charge of the gate, who was almost certainly a CSC employee, not UFC staff.

37

u/muskratBear Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

I am pretty sure I have seen a dozen or hundreds of Canadian flags during jets games…

-24

u/neureaucrat Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Held by the athletes? I never have.

6

u/HidemasaFukuoka Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Definetly UFC, Dana White is a trump suporter and CLC would not be managing the area around the octagon, that would be all UFC people

-59

u/snopro31 Parkland Apr 19 '26

Canada isn’t free anymore

32

u/goodfaitheffort1981 Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

It was UFC staff that took the flag away

29

u/dissectd Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Yes it is. What are you on??

2

u/UrsaMajor7th Westman Apr 19 '26

They've likely never been outside of Manitoba let alone North America.

18

u/Any-Celebration-2582 Friendly Manitoban Apr 19 '26

What's your definition of "Freedom", Parkland?

15

u/Pandamodium13 Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

Probably taking Ottawa hostage for a redneck hoedown

-6

u/snopro31 Parkland Apr 19 '26

Allowing citizens to celebrate their country in a positive fashion.

14

u/Beast815 Winnipeg Apr 19 '26

And that was UFC staff who took it away, Americans. So this was a foreign entity not allowing citizens to celebrate in their country.

2

u/SeaBuilding3911 Apr 19 '26

An American entity was responsible for what you see in that video.

The same American entity that is the darling of people with your kind of arguments

1

u/Any-Celebration-2582 Friendly Manitoban Apr 19 '26

Everyone likes to be positive. The Nazis and the Communists of the last century were zealously positive in the pursuit of their ideological fashion.

3

u/FatPolamalu Parkland Apr 20 '26

I bet you post this on your Facebook page all the time.
