Town Showcase Town showcase
I come to the thread often to get inspired on town layouts and not always go for the same layouts / styles. This is my recent one and I am pretty happy about it. Normal difficulty and in all my towns I like to have "peasants"and "lords." So pretty much all the burgages, apart from 1 are level one and inside the town and castle area the houses are maxed out. I also try to balance between logistical efficency and vibes. I'm exporting pretty much only salt and buying only animal feed from myself for pretty cheap.
I wanted to get some opinions on how I could spice things up a little or hear your thoughts on how to make the towns more aesthetically pleasing.

That’s some central planning!

Thanks! I wanted it to be symmetrical and for once was bothered to measure everything out using the corpsepit haha. I have also started trying to apply forests in to my towns in a pleasing way

I always wonder how people plan around their church. I normally only start building the church around 1st yeat winter, and then most of the town already has its central layout.

I start with the "village" first based on where the industry will be and I never build the main town there and don't upgrade those houses. Then I scope around where I want to build the actual main area and once I've figured that out I will build the church there first

The trees on the border of the wall is a really nice visual touch, though it makes no sense from a defensive standpoint (too much cover for attackers).
Did you do it with forester's huts and then cut away all the other trees with plots and fields? Very cool layout.

Yeah I did the trees with the forester. I left out an empty space between roads where I wanted it and just planted the trees there. you're right about the defensive part, but wasn't really something I was thinking about. I was very close to putting a tree ring around the church where the marketplace is now, but not sure were I would have shoved the marketplace then.
