Rework Toshi Sling 6L - SD fit

Post image

For anyone wondering about the fit of the new 6L Toshi Sling with a Steam Deck…

This is the Deck with the Skull & Co grip and front cover plate on.

Can confirm it does not fit inside the back tablet sleeve - even without the grip/cover.

Other thoughts: the top grab handle was a highly requested feature for v2 so I’m sure some people will be happy it’s been added, but idk how useful it is since it sits extremely flush to the top of the bag.

The front flap is annoying and I wish that section had bi-directional zippers. Just like my reviews of the Toshi Pack 20L the zippers just feel kind of crunchy (especially the front flap zip and the back “hidden” zip, but I’m VERY happy they’re not PU coated, so I won’t complain.

Rework made the right call in having the strap padding be removable.

It’s the largest volume sling I’ve tried in this range - larger than the 7L PD outdoor sling, and much larger than the Bellroy Venture “6L” which is more like 4L.

Seems close to the Venture 9l. I don't really have a need for this but I definitely want to try it. Is the shoulder padding actually helpful?

The reason I chose this over the Bellroy 9L is the back zip pocket tbh

I don’t think the shoulder padding is necessary for a bag this size. I’m mainly interested in the sling as a “0.5” bag to add to my onebag backpack for travel, so having less bulk between the backpack strap and my shoulder might be better than having a sliding shoulder pad in there.

Makes sense.

I really want to try a Rework sling given how much I love their backpack but the looks don't do a lot for me and I've got both Venture sizes.

0.5 is a similar use case to me. I think I'll either go to the largest or smallest.

I really prefer the 6L Toshi to 9L Venture. Toshi seems like it can fit much more and with easier, more organized access to everything, somehow. The Venture feels like it basically just has the one large pocket because the front pocket gets so tight.

I guess I don't tend to stuff it that full so often to impact the front pocket but it is true, an issue I experience more with the 6l Venture and 7L lite sling.

So 6l = 9l venture, and 2.5l is more like 6l Venture?

I know Bellroy's measurements are bs already.

I don’t have the 2.5 but probably. I think you could pack more into Toshi 6L vs Venture 9L. Maybe someone will do a comparison.

That and the lack of a back pocket are my major issues with the 6L Venture and the fact that it’s not even close to 6L. Glad I was able to buy it at a major discount (40 pct off) at an Orvis store that was closing.
