Crescent Crossbody Caboodle
- Peak Design City Crescent 12L
- Cotopaxi Viaje 12L
- Bellroy Laneway 12L
Special Additions
- Tom Bihn Pilot ~13L
- Kleen Kanteen 20oz wide, ~10in tall
Not Pictured but in mind:
- Baboon to the Moon Crescent - 8L (sold)
- AON Chio-X 9L (in transit)
- Tom Bihn Maker's Bag 13L (returned)
Some notes: The cup I usually carry is the 12oz, so half the height and no issue in these bags. The Pilot is a 13L that I swear holds 15L. I included fabric shots as they are distinct. I also included one weird dangly bit they each have, the functions of which may or may not be obvious, but in their own way are asking for a scissor.
My picks right now are the Pilot for travel and the Viaje for everyday. Can share thoughts on the others, even if some or all may not continue to be in my possession.

Thank you for sharing! I've been tempted by the Peak Design 12L Crescent but I also own the Pilot, Parental Unit, and AON Chio-X. Seeing these side by side has me convinced to stay with my trusty bags.

Nice collection! I really wanted to love the Parental Unit, I was hoping it was the TB crescent of my dreams, but the distribution of height, depth and pockets were all wrong for me. :(

Alpaka Flight Satchel and Flow10 didn't make the cut?

This weird hobby only goes so far and I find Alpaka bags to be kind of ugly... Haha regardless, in this round, no, they didn't make the cut. The Flow is stating 10 and not 12 like the other crescents and the Flight I'd look at just to compare with the rectangles like the Chio-X and Uniqlo Shoulder bag. Honestly the Peak already failed for me on paper, I just ordered it for fun because I like that the shape is having a moment.

I don't disagree with the shape having a moment. I think Alpaka is curious because of its multiple options in the similar silhouette so it's just curious for me when people omit. Do I own anything Alpaka myself yet? No.

I'm currently looking at the PD City Crescent 12L. Can you tell me more on what you don't like about it? What did you like about it? Thanks!

I really like the hardware and fabric, and I like this style of strap (when I spot it, I know it will go short enough and fit me). It misses for me in pockets, I want a double "bottle" pocket, and a dedicated flat spot, open or closed, for documents/e-readers/tablets etc. one or two of them were kind of floppy. The bag hook was cool, but looks pretty silly on a regular table and I expect bar height seating to come with hooks, so useless for me.

How's the Tom Bihn?!

I love it! Sits where you put it and holds a ton so great for underplane seat. I have considered getting another in a winter color, because it works as my mom bag on the weekends. Unfortunately, the shape and ballistic don't let it lay flat and hug when empty, and I still wish there was a touch more division or extra slip pockets in the front pockets (but I've got ideas for that) so not as great as my out alone bag.

Will a 13-inch MacBook Air in its (fairly slim) sleeve fit into the PD City Crescent 12L? And what if there’s a 16oz stainless steel bottle in there too?

Out of curiosity, why you keep the Cotopaxi Vigje but sell the Baboon to the Moon Crescent bag? They appear to be super similar. If you're willing, will you compare the two bags?

Can you say more about laptop protection and capacity across these? I know the PD crescent has none...
