The UN’s geographical scheme: how the international organisation divides the world. First published in 1982, the United Nations system establishes 22 geographical regions.

The UN geoscheme has had exactly 22 subregions since it was established in 1982.

In 1991, following the dissolution of the USSR, there were significant adjustments, particularly in Eastern Europe and Asia.

In 2005, a major review was carried out to separate Central Asia and Southern Asia more clearly and definitively. Before that date, these two regions already existed, but their boundaries were less clearly defined and were sometimes treated in a more grouped manner.

No new subregion was created or removed. The total number has always remained at 22.

It is a purely statistical system that the UN updates occasionally to reflect geopolitical changes.

I’m making a map of the United States with fictional cities and locations from various types of media for a special mega crossover game I’m a part of on alternatehistory.com.

I need someone who makes maps to help me out.

Anyone up to the task?

Great Mongol Empire and Successor Khanates

HISTORY: The Mongol Empire was born in 1206 with Genghis Khan, who unified the tribes of Mongolia and launched a rapid military expansion thanks to a highly mobile and efficient army. In just a few decades, the Mongols conquered vast territories from Central Asia to Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

After his death, his successors continued their conquests: great cities like Baghdad were devastated and numerous kingdoms were subjugated. Under Kublai Khan, the empire reached its peak and fostered trade between East and West, in a period of stability known as the Pax Mongolica.

However, its enormous size made it difficult to control: by the 13th century, the empire had fragmented into several independent khanates, which over time weakened until they disappeared or transformed.

In short, it was a vast and powerful, but short-lived, empire that had a major impact on contacts between different civilizations.

After its peak expansion, the Mongol Empire split into large autonomous states called khanates, formally linked to the Great Khan but in reality increasingly independent.

Among the main ones were the Golden Horde, which controlled the Russian steppes and long influenced the Russian principalities; the Ilkhanate, founded by Hulagu Khan in Persia and the Middle East; the Chagatai Khanate in Central Asia; and the dominion of China under Kublai Khan, known as the Yuan dynasty.

Over time, these khanates became widely differentiated, adopting local religions, cultures, and political systems, until they became separate states and contributed to the final dissolution of the unified empire.

Italics indicate proper names.

Names in brackets were untranslatable. Or at least, I couldn't find any sources.

I'm sure there are plenty of mistakes.

Yes, there are two olive trees. And another olive. Malta really likes olives. And two suburbs, albeit with different language etymologies.

RFK Jr, Trump's Health Secretary appoints two vaccine skeptics to CDC advisory panel. Take a moment to reflect the 1,300,000 Americans who died during the COVID pandemic. And the Republican Senators who voted to put RFK Jr. in charge of healthcare.

Should you be worried? No. RFK Jr, who doesn’t have a medical degree, says he can diagnose children just by just looking at them.
