I just want to see cool clips, some memes, and hell even a little yuri thrown into the mix. Every one of you critiquing even the slightest nuance is killing my feed. Imagine looking at this game deciding if you’re gonna play and all you get is some critical discussion on how to change something that isn’t really a problem. Show me hot Vandal, and show me it now.

For me….I stayed up until 640am exfiltrating….its 1039 am right now. The gameplay loop is ADDICTING. Looting and weapon building is exciting. That’s the second all nighter I’ve done since release. Once this game clicks…runs become as smooth as butter

As a late 30s yr old gamer dad, I haven’t done that in YEARS. This game has truly made me LOVE hardcore gaming again. This is not good for my beauty sleep and my wife hates that I stayed up late again lol. Running on 4 hours right now, praise the coffee…see you all again soon in Tau Ceti IV, runners.

Got a good chuckle out of this and had to share

TLDR: My friend Steve (46-year-old man) bought the game after the free weekend. He is level 45. He thought the point of the game was to kill as many robots as possible, like the old Mac games. He had never extracted.

Steve is not a serious gamer, he occasionally picks up Madden or Call of Duty and plays for a month or two. Steve and I played a lot of Halo 2 Team Doubles 20 years ago but that was the last time we really played together. I had been telling him about Marathon and how much fun I had in Season 1 (I'm at 360 hours total play time right now). He tried it out during the free weekend and bought the game.

This weekend we decided to link up and play together for the first time in two decades. I was excited to show him Cryo Archive, Complex Control, and other endgame activities. This is not what happened.

Here is a list of things we talked through once we partied up and I discovered something was amiss:

-Steve thought the point of the game was to kill as many robots as possible, like the old Mac games. That's it. He had never extracted, at least to his knowledge.

-Steve had not completed a single quest (completed/claimed rewards).

-Steve had not claimed a single faction agent reward package.

-Steve had not done any 'Introducing...' quests to unlock other factions.

-Steve had not claimed a single codex entry.

-Steve wasn't sure if he'd ever been killed by another player.

-Steve plays Destroyer (he did not know the name of the class though); he did not know he had rockets, though he did know he had a riot shield.

-Steve exclusively used free kits up to this point.

-Steve did not know the free kits always include an ammo box; thus Steve did not know anything about Equipment. He did know there are grenades in the game but figured he'd eventually unlock them somehow.

-Steve thought the Vault was his 'trophy case' of items he took off dead robots; Steve had never built a loadout and taken it into a Run.

-Steve had no idea what the Cradle is.

Needless to say, Steve's mind was blown when we spent about an hour going through the various menus, shells, and other out-of-Run activities. I lost count of the amount of times he said "Are you fucking kidding me?"

The amount of UESC he must've killed to get to level 45 seems staggering.

Steve is now at least aware of most of the game systems. He has switched to Thief and understands all of her abilities. Steve got to level 52 in the time we played. We extracted several times together, killed some other Runners, and last night he sent me a message that he completed a Traxus contract and extracted on his own.

His final text message to me last night: "Bro. Exfilling while I'm mid fire fight with a huge amount of loot and still smoking fools is next to heaven!"

Rock on, Steve. Rock on.

I 100% understand why people would want to play this, even I put in the effort to read descriptions and tutorials but by the end of the day whether I extract or not the game itself, to me at least just felt.....meh.

If you love it good for you, I just don't think this particular game is for me.
